1.3.0-beta.80 (pre-release)
Pre-release
Pre-release
A test build of YouCoded 1.3.0, for people who want to try it before the full release. It installs over an existing YouCoded and shares its settings and conversations.
Everything since the last beta (1.3.0-beta.76, 8 September) is in here, and the full 1.2.4 → 1.3 list is now in CHANGELOG.md. The headlines for this build:
Updating
- When 1.3.0 ships, this build will offer it to you and check it is genuine before installing. Betas up to 1.3.0-beta.76 cannot do that — they will never offer the full release. If you are on one, install this build (or 1.3.0 when it arrives) from youcoded.ai.
- The Update button works again. GitHub moved where downloads are served from, which had been failing for everyone.
- Every desktop download here is listed in
youcoded-release.json, signed with the release key, so a download can be checked for tampering or corruption.
Security (pre-launch review)
- Updates are verified before they run.
- Community themes and document previews can no longer run code with the app's powers.
- An "Always allow" permission can no longer be chained past to run something you did not approve.
- The assistant cannot read stored-credential files, and chat images are tap-to-show.
- Remote access: an 8-character password minimum, an origin check, a limit on unauthenticated connections, and two crash fixes.
New and changed since beta.76
- A first-run tour from the buddy, with tips, friendlier empty screens, and Help & feedback.
- Seventeen error messages that stated the wrong cause were fixed; every error state now offers an action.
- Faster Resume browser, with a conversation preview, filter chips, and per-conversation model pre-fill.
- Bug reports now include crash, hang and dead-process diagnostics.
- Speed: several file reads moved off the main thread, so the window stays responsive.
- New app and installer icons; Windows installers are now named
YouCoded-Installer-<version>.exe. - Hover hints across the main screen, a livelier stop button, chips and buttons that no longer highlight when you drag, and the on-screen keyboard stays up on touchscreen laptops.
- youcoded.ai: the download popup now fits on a phone, and the opening animation starts in step with its own artwork.
Android
- The APK is stamped 1.3.0-beta.26 — the phone app counts its own builds, so its number is lower than the desktop one. It is the phone build from the same code.
- It now carries a real version number (earlier betas all claimed to be 1.2.4), asks for notification permission, and is arm64 only.
- The phone app is behind the desktop and has rough edges; treat it as a preview.
Known limits
- Windows and macOS will warn that the app is unsigned — the install pages on youcoded.ai walk through it.
- The Windows build's automated tests were skipped for this build. A dozen test files have been failing on the Windows test machine for reasons unrelated to the app (they pass everywhere else), and skipping them is the only way to produce a Windows installer at all. The Mac and Linux builds ran their full test suites.
- Rolling back to an older build reverts the code only, not settings or conversations that a newer build has already updated.
