DeskMate v4.8.7
DeskMate v4.8.7 stabilizes network-backed modes and memory-sensitive paths on ESP8266.
Highlights
- Removed ArduinoJson and its build dependency.
- Added bounded, lightweight JSON scanning and writing with shared fixed workspaces.
- Made Weather, Radar, and settings parsing transactional so malformed or incomplete responses cannot corrupt the last valid state.
- Added low-memory and low-stack admission checks with clear request indicators: blue for request, orange for continuation, red for error, white for skipped, and green for success.
- Reduced web portal and
/api/statusstack and allocation pressure using fixed snapshots and shared output buffers. - Enabled the ESP8266 secondary IRAM heap so BearSSL can place TLS I/O buffers outside the primary heap.
- Disabled keep-alive for ESP8266 web root and JSON responses to reduce heap fragmentation.
- Improved HTTPS buffer admission using free-heap and contiguous-block checks.
Validation
- Full emulator test suite passed, including repeated status requests and Weather, GitHub, Radar, settings, and rollback fixtures.
- ESP8266 clean compile/link passed: 58,076 / 81,920 bytes RAM (70.9%), 693,717 / 1,044,464 bytes flash (66.4%).
- Physical validation reached approximately 31 minutes uptime with 361 successful polls, 2 transient failures, and no crash.
