Packwright v1.0.1

What is new

  • Send to console is much more reliable. The progress bar and the sizes (done, left, total) now work. If the connection drops, for example when a phone goes to sleep, Packwright waits, reconnects and carries on by itself. FTP servers that need a user name and password (a phone or PC running an FTP app) are supported in Settings, Manage consoles.
  • Clear error messages. Problems on the Tasks page are now written in plain words and say what to check. The technical details are saved in the log.
  • Verify tells you the result. A finished check says "Verified: no problems found" with what was checked and how long it took. A failed check says in plain words what is wrong and what to do. Verifying an image now also shows real progress.
  • Right-click a game for Convert / Build, Extract or Verify. Each one opens Tools with the game and the action already chosen.
  • Tasks show how much is done. Every task that knows its size shows the amount done, left and total.
  • Tools: a built-in ZArchive preset. Presets now only appear for Convert / Build, so they no longer switch you away from Verify or Extract.
  • A clearer task counter in the sidebar, including the collapsed sidebar.
  • A package that is incomplete or damaged now says so, instead of suggesting a passcode problem.

If you already have Packwright 1.0.0, open About and choose Check for updates.

Pick the installer for your system. Everything is self-contained, nothing else needs to be installed.

System Download
Windows 10/11 (64-bit) Packwright-Setup-v1.0.1-windows-x64.exe
macOS, Apple silicon Packwright-v1.0.1-macos-arm64.dmg
macOS, Intel Packwright-v1.0.1-macos-x64.dmg
Linux (64-bit), Debian, Ubuntu, Mint Packwright-v1.0.1-linux-x64.deb
Linux (64-bit), Fedora, openSUSE, RHEL Packwright-v1.0.1-linux-x64.rpm
  • Windows: run the installer. It installs for you without administrator rights, adds an uninstaller (Settings, Apps) and lets Packwright update itself. Windows may warn that the publisher is unknown because it is not code-signed.
  • macOS: open the disk image and drag Packwright onto Applications. The app is not notarized, so the first time you open it go to System Settings, Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway (step by step in the README under macOS help). To uninstall, delete it from Applications.
  • Linux: install with your software installer, or sudo apt install ./<file>.deb / sudo dnf install ./<file>.rpm. It adds a menu entry and a packwright command, and is removed with your package manager.

License and source: GPL-3.0, with no warranty. Packwright grew out of PS5 PKG Tool by pearlxcore (GPL-3.0), whose engines still power parts of it; the changes and every bundled component are listed in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md, and the license texts are in the licenses folder of the installed app. The source for this release is the v1.0.1 tag of this repository.
