Plebian-OS 0.2.0 is the coordinated release of Plebian-OS, Pleb, Kilix, and
Kilix 95 on Debian 13. It ships a terminal-first graphical session with Kilix 95
on page 1, both native host backends for the Kilix terminal engine, GPU frame
delivery for eligible local applications, a full public catalog, and the OS-side
Waydroid runtime installer.

Highlights:

  • sixteen native libraries now share one staged install/uninstall contract that
    honors DESTDIR/PREFIX, publishes its manifest last, removes only
    manifest-owned paths, and fails closed while retaining its manifest if an
    administrator-modified file cannot be removed;
  • Kilix gains the coordinated screenshot and Start-menu work, full public
    catalog wiring, and the completed TUI surfaces;
  • eligible local kilix run applications negotiate linear DMA-BUF frames
    through a private rootless Weston/PipeWire host and copy GPU-to-GPU into the
    terminal's textures — this is not zero-copy scanout, and measured hardware
    work was compositor-limited to roughly 29–30.5 FPS;
  • the engine ships and enforces both host backends: generation promotion runs
    the engine's own backend-module check with CI mode cleared and refuses a real
    engine tree missing either glfw-x11.so or glfw-wayland.so;
  • release downloads carry connection, total-time and byte ceilings with
    oversized partial cleanup, and per-artifact byte values live in the immutable
    manifest rather than in mutable network metadata;
  • kilix-bonsai gains ownership-safe uninstall of its generated commands:
    byte-identical launchers are removed, edited launchers are deliberately kept;
  • Kilix NVR restores the complete four-command installed tool set and hardens
    its retention-limit parsing against invalid, negative and overflowing values;
  • Kilix IceWM installs on first selection and provides a conventional
    window-manager desktop inside a Kilix pane.

Plebian-OS ships the Waydroid runtime installer — a fixed, root-owned helper
and its hash-bound closure — and not a Waydroid application. There is no
kilix-waydroid command and no catalog entry in this release; the application
is 0.2.1 scope. The release kernel does provide all three real Binder device
nodes under the option line the helper persists.

The supported in-place upgrade source is 0.1.9. No direct skip from an older
release is supported; follow the exact selector-and-update procedure in the
tagged releases/0.2.0-notes.md.

The image uses the documented initial login pleb / plebian and deliberately
does not install an SSH server. Change the password after installation. The
strict release image asks for the target disk and halts at "Write the changes to
disks?" defaulting to No.

Verification and acceptance details — the exact coordinated commits, BIOS and
UEFI installed-system results, the full 0.1.9-to-0.2.0 upgrade including
deliberate mid-transaction failures and a cross-version rollback, provider and
application acceptance across ordinary Kilix panes, Kilix 95 and IceWM, the
recorded errata, and the superseded build candidate — are in the attached
provenance record. Verify every downloaded asset with the attached SHA256SUMS
before use.

This is an unofficial, non-endorsed Debian 13 derivative. Plebian-OS support
belongs with this project rather than the Debian Project.
