This is an early test build of GorillaPhone, a mod that puts a phone in Gorilla Tag. It's a pre-release: it has been played in VR, but expect a rough edge or two.

What it has

  • A phone that's a real object in the world. Grab it with either hand, hold it, drop it and throw it. It bounces off floors and walls, and you can't stand on it or push off it. If you lose it, hold X and A together for about a second and it comes back.
  • A camera with a live view. Switch between the back camera and the selfie camera, zoom in and out, and pick a quality (Low, Med, High or Ultra). Photos are saved as PNG files in the GorillaPhone folder inside your Pictures folder. You can take a photo by poking the shutter or squeezing the trigger of the hand holding the phone.
  • A gallery that shows your photos, newest first. Scroll with the arrows or by dragging a finger, tap a photo to select it and tap it twice to open it. The viewer shows the date, which camera you used and which map you were on. Deleting asks first and moves the photo into a Deleted folder, so nothing is erased.
  • A home screen with the time and today's date, in your computer's own date style.
  • The map name is saved inside every new photo you take.

What it doesn't have yet

  • The Music and Video apps are greyed out and marked "soon" in this build.
  • The README in this repository already describes a Music sound test and some audio settings. Those aren't in this file. They arrive in the next pre-release.
  • A few small things haven't been checked in VR yet: photos from the back camera, the zoom and quality buttons, the shutter sound, and poking with the left hand.

What you need

Gorilla Tag on PC (Steam) with a VR headset, Windows 10 or 11, and BepInEx 5.

How to install

  1. If you don't have BepInEx yet, install BepInEx 5 (a 5.4 version, 64-bit) into your Gorilla Tag folder and start the game once.
  2. Put GorillaPhone.dll in the BepInEx\plugins folder.
  3. Start the game. A few seconds after you load in, the phone drops in front of you.

To remove it, delete the file.
