Crate 0.2.2
A follow-up to v0.2.1 that makes the Refresh scan honest about what it found.
Fixes
- Refresh now reports the real change to your library instead of a fixed count on every scan. Before, it counted every audio file on disk that the system had not indexed, which included files Android will never index (app audio, voice notes, ringtone caches), so it kept claiming the same number each time. Now it tells you how many tracks actually appeared, and says the library is up to date when nothing changed.
- Folders marked with a
.nomediafile are skipped during the scan, since the system ignores them anyway. - The scan shows live progress as it indexes new tracks, so you can see it working.
Install
Download Crate-0.2.2-arm64.dmg below, open it, and drag Crate into Applications. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without warnings. Your setup and settings carry over.
Note
Apple Silicon only for now. For Intel Macs, build from source (see the README).
Crate 0.2.1
Bug fixes from early v0.2.0 feedback.
Fixes
- The Refresh button now scans your device for music that other apps (like Poweramp) added but the system hadn't indexed yet, so newly added albums show up. Crate reads the Android media index, which can lag behind files added elsewhere, and this brings it up to date.
- Fixed the "Change…" button in Settings closing the window instead of opening the folder picker. Clicks inside Settings no longer dismiss it.
- Deleting music that lives on an SD card is now a fast move within the card instead of a slow copy into internal storage.
Install
Download Crate-0.2.1-arm64.dmg below, open it, and drag Crate into Applications. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without warnings. Your existing setup and settings carry over.
Note
Apple Silicon only for now. For Intel Macs, build from source (see the README).
Crate 0.2.0
Reliability and storage improvements, plus better support for Android music players like the FiiO M-series.
What's new
- Crate now reconnects on its own when the wireless connection drops mid-session, instead of getting stuck on "device not found." If your phone dozes or its connection changes, the next thing you do just works.
- When a phone that was already set up can't be reached, Crate asks you to reconnect rather than dropping back to first-time setup. If the phone has restarted, plugging the cable in once turns wireless back on for you.
- A proper folder picker for where new music lands. Browse internal storage and any SD card, drill into folders, and pick one, or set the path by hand. Dedicated players with an SD card now default to the card's Music folder.
