OpenMapStack 0.4.0 evolves the retained open-map-stack skill into a collection of four independently installable skills:
open-map-stack: architecture and end-to-end GIS work, with standalone fallback.reproducible-gis-project: manifests, canonical pipelines, provenance, validation and reruns.geospatial-data-discovery: source fitness, access, licensing, completeness and pinning.spatial-sql: spatial queries and metric/index correctness on a chosen engine.
Each skill includes its local references, templates, schema and trimmed worked example. Install the CLI separately at the matching 0.4.0 version. Existing open-map-stack installs retain their identity; floating updates refresh tracked skills, while the new specialists require an explicit install. Legacy open-gis remains a separate identity and must be removed explicitly if unwanted.
The CLI adds and strengthens spatial evidence checks, clean-rerun handling and QGIS portability/CRS checks. Template pipelines now maintain their own run records and manifest pointers. Private warehouse support includes PostGIS, BigQuery and MotherDuck.
Validation: 667 hosted unit tests (28 skips), 78% assertion coverage, 16/16 contract fixtures and 26/26 detected mutations; full QGIS/browser fixture integration 2/2 and visual mutations 2/2. Fresh isolated project/global skill installs, pinned updates, plugin lifecycle and installed-wheel checks passed. Unavailable checks remain explicit.
Known limitations: the maintainer closed the release's live-trial gates on the recorded evidence. QGIS map-layer source resolution remains deferred in #67. The final preparation review separately records missing UI in one retained live dashboard and the browser checker's tab/control assumptions; these are explicitly deferred in #69, not fixture passes or claims that every generated project is complete. Plain-versus-skill comparative benchmarking is deferred until after this release and will run occasionally, not after every small change.

The release tag points to tested commit 42299d69991825bb0694d297dc62d1a84567e8aa, merged through #70; its tree is identical to the resulting main merge. Final CI passed. The attached release-evidence.tar.gz preserves prepublication results. publication-verification.json and postpublication-evidence.tar.gz record successful actual-tag skill/plugin installs and a fresh installation of openmapstack[geo]==0.4.0 from PyPI. Both published distributions match the release workflow hashes; SHA256SUMS covers the attached distributions and evidence. The publishing workflow succeeded on retry after the trusted-publisher configuration was corrected.
