Ring Out 1.6.2
This one is about speed. Every disc version now builds with the full set of recompiler optimisations; before, only some of them applied, and only to the US disc.
Measured over identical work, against 1.6.1:
- Japanese disc — 34% less CPU
- European disc — 35% less
- SC2 Plus — 34% less
- US disc — 31% faster in wall-clock terms on a low-end laptop (a dual-core A4-9125), which is the machine most likely to have been struggling
No new features. If 1.6.1 ran below 60 for you, this is the release to try.
You need to re-run setup. The gain is in the recompiled module built on your machine, not in the shipped runtime — copying the new files over an old install won't do it. Unzip fresh and point setup at your disc as before.
Replays from earlier versions won't play back on this one. The optimisations change emulation timing very slightly, which is enough to desync a recorded match. The build detects this and warns you instead of silently drifting. Matches recorded on 1.6.2 are fine with each other.
