Protoloop — an agentic CAD / 3D-model studio for macOS (Apple Silicon). Describe a part in plain language; Claude plans it, writes parametric CAD source, and renders a live 3D model you can rotate, measure, tune with sliders, and export.

Install

The app is signed but not notarized, so Gatekeeper will warn on first launch:

  1. Open the DMG and drag Protoloop to Applications.
  2. Right-click → Open → Open the first time (only needed once).

Requirements

  • The Claude Code CLI (claude) signed in — default backend, no API key needed — or an Anthropic API key in Settings.
  • OpenSCAD (brew install --cask openscad) for the OpenSCAD engine. JSCAD needs nothing extra; CADQuery/build123d install on demand from Settings (needs Python 3.10–3.13).
