v1.0.0: Stable Release

This is the stable 1.0.0 release — ready for production deployments. It marks the
completion of the release candidate cycle with a focus on stability, performance,
and production-grade reliability. All testing, benchmarking, and validation has been
completed and passed.

Release Highlights

✅ Production Ready

  • Zero critical or high-priority vulnerabilities
  • All tests passing (36+ unit tests with core features, additional with full feature set)
  • 100% clippy clean with -D warnings
  • Benchmarks measured on 2026-02-23; consistent within ±5-10% variance
  • Cross-platform verified (Linux, macOS, Windows)

✅ Security & Stability

  • Resolved RUSTSEC-2026-0007 by upgrading bytes to 1.11.1
  • Documented RUSTSEC-2024-0408 (pprof unsound but optional)
  • Graceful shutdown with exponential backoff (1ms → 50ms)
  • RwLock poison protection with panic guards
  • Zero panic paths in production code

✅ Performance

Benchmarks measured 2026-02-23 with Criterion.rs (100 samples, Tokio runtime):

  • Daemon creation: 2.14 µs (≈76% faster than v0.9.0)
  • Subsystem registration (3 tasks): 3.76 µs (≈71% faster)
  • Config loading: 80.6 ns (≈66% faster)
  • Shutdown coordination: 2.87 µs (≈72% faster)
  • Error creation: 31.2 ns (≈57% faster)
  • Error chain: 137 ns (≈75% faster)

See docs/PERFORMANCE.md for detailed benchmark methodology and optimization tips.

✅ Code Quality

  • #![deny(unsafe_code)] and #![deny(missing_docs)]
  • All 6 clippy violations from RC2 fixed (docs, imports, drop timing, casts, format strings)
  • 100% rustfmt compliant
  • Comprehensive error handling with 38+ structured error types
  • Lock-free metrics collection on hot paths

✅ Concurrency & Reliability

  • Supports 100k+ concurrent tasks
  • Lock-free MPMC coordination via crossbeam
  • Atomic operations with optimized orderings
  • Object pooling for string and vector allocations
  • Bounded metric history with ring buffer

✅ Documentation & Versioning

  • Stable version: 1.0.0
  • Comprehensive API Reference — 602-line API.md with examples, feature guide, module structure, and best practices
  • Enhanced PERFORMANCE.md — Benchmark methodology, optimization tips, and reproducible test instructions
  • Updated README.md — Security posture details, platform support matrix, and example showcase
  • Audit allowlist for unavoidable transitive warnings
  • All installation snippets and docs updated to v1.0.0

Dependency Status

  • Tokio: 1.49.0 ✅ (primary async runtime)
  • async-std: 1.13.2 (best-effort legacy support, unmaintained but optional)
  • bytes: 1.11.1 ✅ (patched)
  • pprof: 0.13.0 (Unix-preferred, optional; Windows build issues documented)
  • parking_lot: 0.12 (fast synchronization primitives)
  • dashmap: 6.0 (lock-free concurrent HashMap)
  • crossbeam: 0.8 (lock-free data structures)
  • figment: 0.10 (configuration management)
  • tracing: 0.1 (structured logging)

Upgrade Notes

  • No breaking API changes from v1.0.0-RC2.
  • Safe drop-in upgrade for all RC2 users.
  • Recommended: run full test suite after upgrade (cargo test --all-features)
