Highlights

QuickTab 1.0.6 keeps the switcher focused on fast window cycling and fixes an input path that could stall keyboard and mouse events across macOS when Accessibility calls or a target application became slow.

Global input reliability

  • Window activation, close, minimize, hide, quit, and focused-window lookups now run on a serial background queue instead of the main event-tap path.
  • Accessibility messaging now has a 500 ms timeout, preventing an unresponsive application from holding QuickTab indefinitely.
  • Slow window interactions over 100 ms are logged for diagnosis without interrupting input.
  • If macOS disables QuickTab's event tap, QuickTab now fails open: it dismisses the active switcher, tears down the disabled tap, and lets keyboard and mouse events pass through normally.
  • Automatic event-tap recovery is capped at two attempts and uses a 30-second stability cooldown. This avoids rapid re-enable loops while still recovering from temporary interruptions.
  • Manual input retry remains available from the QuickTab menu if automatic recovery is exhausted.

Window action fixes

  • Close, minimize, hide, quit, and activation operations are serialized so repeated shortcuts cannot start overlapping actions.
  • Minimize and hide dismiss the switcher immediately while the action finishes in the background.
  • When closing or quitting during Command-Tab cycling, releasing Command waits for the action to finish before activating the next valid window.
  • Dismissing or reopening the switcher cancels stale activation and action work so an old session cannot affect a new one.
  • Selection remains stable when a completed action removes or reorders windows.

Simpler switcher controls

  • Removed window search, fuzzy matching, search input UI, modifier-based search entry points, and the related settings.
  • Kept Command-Tab and Shift-Command-Tab for recent-window cycling.
  • Kept Command-Backtick for cycling through windows in the active application.
  • Arrow keys, Return, Escape, Command-W, Command-M, Command-H, and Command-Q continue to work in the switcher.
  • Ordinary letter keys pass through without changing the active switcher session.

Update notes

This release removes saved search-shortcut preferences because search is no longer part of QuickTab. Window visibility preferences, excluded applications, login settings, and the Accessibility permission flow are unchanged.
