This Linux AppImage hotfix corrects a startup crash in v0.8.0 caused by mixing PIC and non-PIC static inputs during the IPO/LTO link. The build now enables position-independent code consistently before dependencies are configured.

There are no feature changes from v0.8.0. Windows and macOS packages were not affected by this Linux-specific failure.

Linux users of v0.8.0 should update. See the hotfix PR, the root-cause investigation, or the full patch.
