This release upgrades the project from Python 3.10 to Python 3.14 with all dependencies updated to their latest compatible versions.

Breaking Changes

  • Python 3.14 Required - This release requires Python 3.14 or later. Python 3.10-3.13 are no longer supported.
  • SQLAlchemy 2.0 - Upgraded from SQLAlchemy 1.x to 2.0, which includes significant API changes.
  • Flask 3.x - Upgraded from Flask 2.x to 3.x with updated JSON handling.

SQLAlchemy 2.0 Compatibility

  • Add monkey-patch for datatables package to fix query.join() calls that now require relationship attributes instead of string names
  • Add explicit session.add() call in Transaction.set_budgets() as SQLAlchemy 2.0 no longer auto-adds objects via relationship cascade
  • Update all query patterns for SQLAlchemy 2.0 compatibility

Flask 3.x Compatibility

  • Change request.get_json() to request.get_json(silent=True) in form handlers to handle non-JSON requests gracefully
  • Update JSON provider from json_encoder to json_provider_class for Flask 3.x

Selenium 4.x Compatibility

  • Remove deprecated desired_capabilities parameter from WebDriver initialization
  • Update to use ChromeOptions for all browser configuration
  • Set logging preferences via set_capability('goog:loggingPrefs', ...) instead of desired_capabilities

Testing Improvements

  • Add wait_for_datatable_rows() helper method to AcceptanceHelper for waiting on DataTables client-side filtering
  • Add retry logic for DataTable cell population timing issues in Docker tests
  • Fix pytest-flask LiveServer fixture for Python 3.14 multiprocessing (set start method to 'fork')
  • Pin alembic-verify to 0.1.4 and sqlalchemy-diff to 0.1.5 for compatibility
  • Update test assertions for humanize 4.15.0 decimal formatting (intword now formats with 1 decimal place)

Docker Test Infrastructure

  • Update gunicorn from 19.7.1 to 22.0.0 for Python 3.14 compatibility
  • Fix _container_ip() method to handle new Docker API structure where IP addresses are in Networks dict
  • Add SETTINGS_MODULE and BIWEEKLYBUDGET_TEST_TIMESTAMP environment variables to Docker container
  • Add BIWEEKLYBUDGET_TEST_BASE_URL to tox passenv for proper Docker test execution
  • Fix testflask fixture to yield None when running against external URL
