Overview

This release marks a major step forward from v1, introducing an AI-powered web dashboard, backend API, and profile intelligence layer alongside infrastructure fixes that bring the full stack into a reliable, deployable state.

✨ New Features

AI Intelligence & Insights

  • New backend endpoints: /stats/insights, /stats/query, and /stats/profile-summary — support natural-language questions, grounded narratives, and evidence-backed answers about your follower data
  • profile_summarizer module generates OpenAI-powered (or local fallback) profile summaries with explainability guardrails, mirroring the desktop app's prompt behavior
  • New Pydantic models for insight requests/responses including evidence, confidence scoring, and recommended action fields

Web Dashboard (Next.js + FastAPI)

  • New interactive web dashboard at http://localhost:3000 — live follower stats, growth trend chart, new/lost follower lists
  • FastAPI backend (http://localhost:8000) with full REST API: /ping, /stats/followers, /stats/trends, /stats/history/{new|lost}
  • Extended DashboardHealth model with recent sync run summaries for API health transparency and data freshness indicators
  • AI query bar, evidence-backed answers panel, and enhanced signal quality panel in the dashboard

🐛 Bug Fixes & Infrastructure

  • Fixed ModuleNotFoundError — Restored missing root-level analytics.py module (create_table, insert_follower, plot_follower_growth, segment_followers, plot_unfollower_trend)
  • Fixed UnboundLocalError — Removed duplicate dead code block in main.py's track_followers() that referenced unfollowers after the finally block
  • Fixed backend credential loading — tracker.py now explicitly loads backend/.env via python-dotenv so GitHub credentials are always picked up on startup
  • Fixed tsconfig.json — Removed incompatible baseUrl option that conflicted with "moduleResolution": "bundler" in TypeScript 5+
  • Desktop app UX — Entry fields (username, token, filename) now auto-populate from .env on startup — no more manual re-entry every run

⚙️ Configuration

Variable File Purpose
GITHUB_USERNAME backend/.env GitHub username to track
GITHUB_TOKEN backend/.env GitHub PAT (needs read:user)
OPENAI_API_KEY backend/.env Powers AI profile summaries (optional, falls back to local)

📋 Requirements

  • Python 3.10+, openai package added to backend/requirements.txt
  • Node.js 18+, Next.js 15.3.1
