v0.1.2 — HACS catalog submission

Choose a tag to compare

@javaDevJT javaDevJT released this 13 Sep 12:59

Prepares OpenAI Codex Conversation for submission to the HACS default catalog.

  • Adds HACS validation with no ignored checks and Home Assistant's Hassfest.
  • Runs all 27 regression tests, Ruff lint, and formatting checks in GitHub Actions.
  • Adds the repository metadata required by HACS.

The conversation behavior, device-code sign-in, and saved account configuration remain unchanged from v0.1.1. Requires Home Assistant 2026.9.0 or newer and a ChatGPT account with Codex access.

This release is published after the required validation run succeeds:

The default-catalog submission requires review by HACS maintainers. Until accepted, install using HACS Custom repositories, category Integration, or use the attached manual-installation ZIP.

v0.1.1 — Fix empty Assist responses

Choose a tag to compare

@javaDevJT javaDevJT released this 12 Sep 20:49

Fixes a stream-parsing defect that can cause OpenAI returned no answer after a successful request.

Codex can send complete messages in response.output_item.done events, then end with only response metadata. The integration now preserves these completed items, including tool calls and encrypted reasoning, and accepts completion events without a status field. Explicit failures and interrupted streams still produce errors rather than executing partial output.

Includes the integration logo in Home Assistant's local branding folder.

Upgrade: Update OpenAI Codex Conversation to 0.1.1 in HACS and restart Home Assistant, then retry your Assist conversation. Your existing account configuration and sign-in are retained. For manual installation, extract the attached ZIP into the configuration directory and restart.

Validation: all 27 tests pass against Home Assistant 2026.9.2, including the stream shape in OpenAI Codex's own regression fixture; Ruff checks pass. The reported live failure did not include a raw stream capture, so installation and a fresh Assist conversation are still needed to confirm the fix on that system.

v0.1.0

@javaDevJT javaDevJT released this 12 Sep 20:23

Initial release of OpenAI Codex Conversation for Home Assistant.

  • Sign in with a ChatGPT account through OpenAI's device-code flow.
  • Automatic token refresh and Home Assistant reauthentication.
  • Assist conversations and follow-up history, with optional control through HA's exposed tools.
  • Configurable Codex model and instructions.

Requires Home Assistant 2026.9.0 or newer and a ChatGPT account with Codex access. This is an unofficial integration. All 23 local tests passed against Home Assistant 2026.9.2; actual subscription authorization and live Assist/device control remain untested.

For HACS, add this repository as a custom repository with category Integration. For manual installation, extract the attached ZIP into your Home Assistant configuration directory and restart Home Assistant. See the README for sign-in and setup instructions.
