Automata v1.2.0
What's New in v1.2.0
Race Mode
- New third decision mode: books both apps at once and the first driver match wins
- The losing booking is cancelled automatically in the other app
- Race-aware notifications tell you which app won and why
- Status banner reads "Waiting for a winner" during the race in plain language
Device Compatibility
- Location search now adapts to any screen size, so the pickup and drop suggestions are tapped correctly on smaller phones
- Never taps the "Saved addresses" or "Set location on map" rows in PickMe search
- Grants the ride app's location permission dialog automatically (Precise, while using the app)
- Detects when a ride app is set to Sinhala or Tamil and tells you to switch it to English
Problem Reporting
- Report a problem straight from the failure banner, the failure notification, or Settings
- Reports can attach the step trace, app log, a screenshot of the failing screen, and its layout
- Every attachment is optional with a preview, and reports are sent by email only
- Optional shake-to-report gesture (enable in Settings > Help)
New Look
- New Waypoint A app icon with adaptive and monochrome variants
- Signal Navy color theme across the app in both light and dark modes
- Redesigned permission banners and task form layout
Onboarding Guide
- New intro guide explains the three modes, required permissions, and dos and don'ts
- Replayable anytime from Settings > Help
Task Management
- Search your tasks from the top bar
- Reorder tasks with drag and drop (long-press a task and choose Reorder)
- Task cards now show the decision mode
Map Picker
- My location button centers the map on your position (OpenStreetMap and Google Maps)
- Google Maps API key now has an explicit Save and a live Test key check that verifies both Maps and Places APIs
- Moved Google Maps zoom controls so they no longer overlap the app's buttons
Reliability
- New "Improve reliability" prompt and a "Keeping Automata running" guide for phones that turn off permissions in the background (battery optimization and auto-start)
- Re-checks accessibility and notification permissions whenever you return to the app, so the warning banners clear on their own
- System screens now show "Automata" instead of the raw package name
- Auto-skips PickMe's rate-previous-ride popup and recovers from the Rides unavailable screen
- Handles Uber's fare expired popup (with a retry cap), Confirm new fare banner, and collapsed ride sheet
- Ride type selection now works when labels are only partially visible
- Hardened ride cancellation flows for both apps in Race mode
- Fixed the progress notification that could not be swiped away
- Fixed the status banner showing stale step text during a run
Fixes
- Fixed top bar and status bar icons being invisible in light mode
- Onboarding now explains the "Restricted setting" step needed to enable permissions on sideloaded apps
Other
- Both ride apps are always compared: removed the per-app toggles from tasks
- Removed saved locations from Settings
- Security hardening for logging and the maps WebView
