@jazzenchen jazzenchen released this 17 Oct 20:02

Agent HUD 0.5.5

Compatibility

Requires Agent HUD for iPhone 1.5 or later for iPhone and Apple Watch sync. Update the iPhone app before updating the Mac. Older iPhone versions cannot read this release's data.

Get the iPhone app.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later.

Changes

Quota names on every device

  • Keeps quota window names and short forms in English, so an English iPhone, widget or Apple Watch no longer receives Chinese names from a Mac using Chinese. Names update after the Mac reads and syncs the account again.

Docks and appearance

  • Keeps every logo visible on Simple and Dynamic docks while a reply or request opens beside the sending agent's logo.
  • Gives each display its own dark, light or system appearance, solid or glass material and transparency. Settings → General can match windows to their display's HUD as an experimental option.
  • Lets both dock sizes run from 20 to 60 pt, adds Simple panel logo spacing and uses one smaller text size for dock numbers, reminders and the hover line.
  • Makes the agents' bots act out thinking, tools, approvals, questions, plans, compaction, failures and usage limits. Claude's bot is Clawd.
  • Keeps the menu bar's figure, colours and agent order in step with the main display's HUD and its layout.

Arrange the HUD with an agent

  • Adds client checkmarks and add/remove actions for the MCP server in Settings → Experimental.
  • Names the tools get_hud, get_hud_screenshot, draft_hud, discard_hud_draft and finish_hud_edit. The server remains agent-hud; turn on the renamed HUD tools switch again to use it.
  • Lets an agent filter sessions by project and period, choose block accounts and row order, change panel switches and propose app settings as a draft for you to save.
  • Holds the panel open while an agent arranges it, then lets go when the edit finishes or you dismiss it.
  • Adds balance burn rates, estimated run-out times and cost charts to API balance blocks.

Sessions and other agents

  • Removes archived or deleted sessions from session lists while keeping their tokens in the usage totals until the ledger expires them.
  • Lets a session using a tool take over an agent's mark from one that is thinking.
  • Answers Claude Code plan approvals on the HUD, including accepting edits or returning feedback to keep planning.
  • Ends Claude Code turns promptly when their logs report a usage limit or API failure.
  • Keeps one provider order across Settings, the HUD, glow, menu bar and token statistics.
  • Shows WorkBuddy's model ceilings and credits, reads a GLM plan held only by WorkBuddy under that group and handles a CodeBuddy CLI using WorkBuddy's configuration as WorkBuddy.
  • Reduces artwork memory, repeated island layout and process inspection for clients that are not installed.

iPhone and Apple Watch sync

  • Sends Claude's narrations and questions to the phone, including questions answered through the Claude desktop app's next-step box.
  • Keeps published turn text once and improves local-network change tracking and conversation-cache recovery.
  • Ships the Mac executable stripped and the updater for Apple Silicon only, while keeping debugging symbols locally for crash reports.

Agent HUD 0.5.4

Agent HUD 0.5.4

Compatibility

Requires Agent HUD for iPhone 1.5 or later for iPhone and Apple Watch sync. Update the iPhone app before updating the Mac. Older iPhone versions cannot read this release's data.

Get the iPhone app.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later.

Changes

Arrange the panel

  • Gives the hover panel a layout, shared by every display or one of a display's own. A layout can hide or reorder the agents' blocks, their quota windows and the panel's sections; draw an agent's windows as bars, rings, numbers or a 24-hour token chart; put two blocks side by side on half a line; set the spacing, the separators and a width from 480 to 720 pt; and choose how many sessions the panel lists and which.
  • Lets a display's layout choose which agents its resting HUD shows, and in what order: the Dynamic dock's logos, the Simple panel's rings and the glow's colours.
  • Adds 24h, 7d and 30d buttons to the token chart's header.
  • Adds estimated cost to a quota block's picker: what the window's tokens would cost at their vendors' list prices. Nobody is charged this amount; a subscription is not billed by the token.
  • Adds Settings → Experimental, where Claude Code or Codex can be allowed to arrange the HUD through Agent HUD's MCP server. An agent's change shows at once as an unsaved draft with Save and Discard above the panel's footer, and nothing is saved until you press Save. It is off by default. Settings → Display gains Revert to Previous and Reset to Default for each display's layout and style.
  • Makes an agent's logo and name in the expanded panel open its latest session, such as a Codex Desktop thread or the iTerm2 pane a Claude Code session runs in.

Codex

  • Keeps Codex usage, sessions and turns older than a week in the statistics after Codex 0.162 compresses them into .jsonl.zst files.
  • Shows Codex Desktop's app approvals, browser approvals and Question cards in a conversation of any length, and its browser prompts, such as "Allow ChatGPT to access …?", as cards of their own.
  • Shows a Codex command or file approval's card in a long conversation too.
  • Shows a Codex Desktop session as needing you whenever Desktop waits on you, including for requests the HUD has no card for.

Claude Code

  • Lets a claude -p run, or an SDK host that answers no permission prompts itself, go on at once. It waited up to 10 minutes on a card nobody could answer.
  • Shows a Claude account's current plan after an upgrade, instead of the plan it signed in with (#72).
  • Ends a Claude Code turn that stops without a final answer, such as one cut off at the output limit. It showed as running for up to 30 minutes.

Other agents

  • Shows Antigravity's quota when only agy runs, without the Antigravity app (#71).
  • Shows DeepSeek's balance with only the DeepSeek Harness desktop app installed (#69), and keeps a quiet Harness desktop session running.

Faster and lighter

  • Lets Claude Code and Codex go on without waiting for Agent HUD at a session's start, at each prompt or after each Codex tool call.
  • Shows a long Claude Code or Codex session as soon as its newest turn is read, instead of after its whole log. This update reads the last 31 days of logs once that way; meanwhile the statistics say they are indexing, and the totals recorded before keep counting.
  • Builds sessions for the last seven days only, however far back tokens are read, so the first pass after launch takes about 3 s instead of 5 to 6. Day totals, statistics and the agent cards' tokens still cover the whole range.
  • Draws the bots for about a quarter of the processor time, pixel for pixel the same.
  • Reads Codex rollouts and prices session breakdowns with less processor time, and reads each pass's sessions once for the local network and iCloud.

iPhone and Apple Watch

  • Sends the phone every text message of a turn, while the turn still runs too, instead of only the last one after it ends.
  • Sends iCloud a batch every 30 seconds instead of every five minutes, so a phone away from the Mac's network is at most half a minute behind.
  • Hands a phone's message to Claude Code through Agent HUD's own Claude Code plugin, installed when remote sessions are turned on in Settings → Experimental. A session takes messages again right after Agent HUD restarts, and a message reaches the right conversation after /clear.

Hover and dock

  • Makes a dock's compact reminder and the Simple panel's hover line as tall as the dock's marks, and a reminder only as long as what it says.
  • Says after a quota window resets that its readings are being collected again and for how long, instead of "Insufficient data" (#81, pull request #80 by @Code-suphub).

Agent HUD 0.5.3

Agent HUD 0.5.3

Compatibility

Requires Agent HUD for iPhone 1.5 or later for iPhone and Apple Watch sync. Update the iPhone app before updating the Mac. Older iPhone versions cannot read this release's data.

Get the iPhone app.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later.

Changes

  • Shows an agent that is billed by use and has only a balance, such as DeepSeek through its API, on the Simple panel: its logo, an empty ring and the balance, after the agents with quota windows. With Separate agents on, hovering it reads the balance, on the Simple panel and on the Dynamic dock.
  • Keeps a hovered agent's logo as the logo while its small card shows, with Separate agents on. A click that opens the whole panel turns it into its bot, which watches the pointer until the panel closes.
  • Writes what a dock shows on hover to the dock's size: a Simple panel or Dynamic dock set larger than its default writes its hover line or bubble and its compact reminders larger too. Nothing is written smaller than at the default.
  • Makes a compact reminder on a dock a slimmer pill, 34 pt high instead of 48, and gives reminder cards the type sizes of the usage panel.
  • Keeps the line above the Tokens section from crossing the token chart's hover box, and writes the box's date once for a period inside one day.
  • Shows the closed hand while the HUD is dragged. In 0.5.1 and 0.5.2 the pointer stayed an arrow.

Agent HUD 0.5.2

Agent HUD 0.5.2

Compatibility

Requires Agent HUD for iPhone 1.5 or later for iPhone and Apple Watch sync. Update the iPhone app before updating the Mac. Older iPhone versions cannot read this release's data.

Get the iPhone app.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later.

Changes

  • Shows Codex Desktop's app approvals and Question cards for long threads. Desktop sends a thread's whole history with every reading, and a reading over 8 MB was dropped, so a long thread showed no card and Remote Sessions could not continue it from the iPhone. Readings up to 64 MB are taken now.
  • Uses less CPU while a Codex Desktop turn runs: a reading costs about a third of what it did, and a long thread is read every several seconds instead of every two, which also spares Codex Desktop the work of answering. A thread keeps its cards between readings.

Agent HUD 0.5.1

Compatibility

Requires Agent HUD for iPhone 1.5 or later for iPhone and Apple Watch sync. Update the iPhone app before updating the Mac. Older iPhone versions cannot read this release's data.

Get the iPhone app.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later.

Changes

  • Adds Separate agents for Simple and Dynamic modes, off by default in Display settings. Hovering an agent's logo shows a small card with that agent's quota, tokens and sessions beside it, and a click opens that agent's whole panel. Replies and permission requests open beside the agent that sent them while the other logos stay.
  • Grows a Simple panel itself into the usage panel on hover instead of fading a separate panel over it, and gives Simple its own Bot animation switch, off by default. Display settings lists the modes as Notch, Simple and Dynamic.
  • Opens permission and reply reminders as the agent's logo, which turns into its bot once the card has opened.
  • Shows Codex Desktop's mid-turn Question cards on the HUD, including questions with only a reply field. Answers go to the original turn; Skip leaves the question unanswered.
  • Notices a Codex turn that starts in a quiet session within five seconds instead of up to five minutes.
  • Picks the HUD up after a short drag or hold instead of on mouse down, keeps the closed hand for the whole drag, and outlines a Simple panel's own shape while it moves.
  • Uses less CPU while agents work: bots are stepped only as often as they move, local services are looked for every 10 seconds instead of every 2, and a collection pass no longer repeats work for records that did not change.
  • Reads quota and balance less often: every 2.5 to 3.5 minutes while a turn runs instead of every minute, and every 5 to 6 minutes between turns. Scheduled readings wait a random time of up to a minute, so Macs on accounts that reset together do not ask a service in the same second. The reading after a turn ends, and the one opening the panel asks for, are immediate as before.
  • Sends iCloud one batch every five minutes instead of every change, which ends the hours-long refusals some Macs ran into. Events, permission requests and prompt results still go at once, and an iPhone on the same network still follows every change.
  • Adds an Experimental settings page with one Remote Sessions switch for Claude Code and Codex: answer permission requests and continue a session from the iPhone. It needs Agent HUD for iPhone 1.6 or later. Guide.

Agent HUD 0.5.0

Agent HUD 0.5.0

Build 482

Compatibility

Requires Agent HUD for iPhone 1.5 or later for iPhone and Apple Watch sync. Update the iPhone app before updating the Mac. Older iPhone versions cannot read this release's data.

Get the iPhone app.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later.

Changes

  • Adds Simple mode: a compact floating HUD on any screen edge, with quota rings, percentages, or both. Adjust its size and ring thickness in Display settings. Percentages use lighter Regular weight and stay in place as the panel opens.
  • Turns agent logos into animated bots while they work, ask for permission, or finish a reply. Their eyes follow the pointer, and idle logos occasionally visit as bots. Customize bot logos, dock logo size, and edge spacing; Reduce Motion keeps static logos.
  • Shows Codex Desktop Computer Use app-access requests on the HUD with the native Deny, Allow this conversation, and Always allow choices when available. Native answers and dismissals follow the original request; automatic engine review stays with Codex.
  • Displays unavailable Grok subscription quota as N/A while preserving known reset times. Shows prepaid balances and on-demand spending, including confirmed zero-dollar values, and keeps cache provenance in an information tooltip.
  • Refreshes signed-in accounts when Agents settings opens and offers Refresh accounts. Removes accounts a successful reading no longer reports, while retaining the last current identity during a failed reading.
  • Separates Grok CLI and Grok Bot execution clients while sharing quota for confirmed accounts. Uses native Bot quota readings with their original timestamps and recognizes personal SuperGrok accounts. Scheduled routine runs join their bot session; billing-only children keep their token accounting without cluttering session lists.
  • Groups sessions by Git project, including worktrees, and shows Codex child agents with their own task, workspace, state and token usage without recounting inherited history.
  • Prioritizes waiting and running work in the HUD, lists up to five recent sessions, and places them below Tokens. The token chart always shows the last 24 hours in 15-minute bars independently of Dashboard filters. Reply reminders have a close button that leaves permission requests unanswered.
  • Returns supported Grok sessions to their originating client and makes locally available Grok CLI, Grok Bot and Antigravity conversation text available on iPhone when sharing is enabled, preserving explicit gaps in cached Bot history.
  • Answers ZCode questions on the HUD and supports questions from compatible DeepSeek Harness web hosts. Codex hooks handle confirmed user review while leaving automatic or unknown reviewers unanswered.
  • Recovers cross-device publication after partial cloud-upload failures and keeps local-network readings consistent during refreshes. Caches recent conversation reads, resumes Codex transcripts incrementally, and avoids repeated record encoding during snapshot sorting.

Agent HUD 0.4.39

Compatibility

Requires Agent HUD for iPhone 1.5 or later for iPhone and Apple Watch sync. Update the iPhone app before updating the Mac. Older iPhone versions cannot read this release's data.

Get the iPhone app.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later.

Changes

  • Fix cross-device publication after partial cloud upload failures and keep local-network readings consistent during refreshes.
  • Show Grok CLI and Grok Bot as separate agents with shared quota for confirmed accounts. Prefer native Bot quota readings, preserve their original reading time, remove duplicate account rows, and recognize cache updates through filesystem aliases.
  • Group sessions by Git project, including worktrees, and show Codex sub-agents with their own details and usage without recounting inherited parent history.
  • Keep billing-only Grok Bot subagents out of recent-session lists while preserving their token usage. Real native Bot conversations and identified children remain available.
  • Read locally available Grok CLI, Grok Bot and Antigravity conversation text on iPhone when sharing is enabled. Return to supported Grok sessions in their originating client; cached Bot history keeps its gaps.
  • Place sessions below Tokens, show at most five recent sessions with a remaining count, and prioritize waiting and running work. HUD tokens always show the past 24 hours in 15-minute bars, independently of Dashboard filters. Restore the close button on reply reminders without answering waiting permissions.
  • Reuse recent conversation reads from a persistent local cache, resume Codex transcripts incrementally, and reduce repeated HUD preparation, client discovery and upload sorting.

Agent HUD 0.4.39-beta.2

Compatibility

Requires Agent HUD for iPhone 1.5 or later for iPhone and Apple Watch sync. Update the iPhone app before updating the Mac. Older iPhone versions cannot read this release's data.

Get the iPhone app.

If the required iPhone version is not yet on the App Store, cross-device features require the corresponding TestFlight version.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later.

Changes

  • Improves LAN snapshot updates by computing canonical record IDs once before sorting snapshots and replay batches. This removes repeated encoding from the sorting hot path.
  • Recognises personal SuperGrok accounts whose native Grok Bot usage records contain both a user principal and a team ID. The account can now display its confirmed weekly quota.
  • Leaves Codex automatic approval review to Codex. The HUD only handles a permission request when the matching turn explicitly uses a user reviewer.
  • Includes the LAN connection and cross-device sync fixes from the 0.4.39 release series.

Known issues

  • Grok prepaid and on-demand wallet amounts, including a zero-dollar wallet, are not yet displayed. The missing-quota placeholder also remains outstanding. Issue #20 remains open; PR #35 and PR #38 address native usage reading and personal-account recognition.
  • Cross-device features require iPhone 1.5 or later. Use the corresponding TestFlight build while version 1.5 is awaiting App Store review.
