Changed

  • skill upgrade now handles full project migration: Upgrades the global registry, migrates the install path to .claude/skills/, removes .skills.lock, runs skill sync to rebuild skills and update agent configs, removes legacy .skill/ if present, and cleans up the old install directory — all in one command.
  • skill sync always installs latest: Sync no longer checks a lockfile; it always writes the latest version of each skill from the registry. The --force flag has been removed since it's no longer needed.

Removed

  • Removed .skills.lock lockfile: The lockfile concept has been removed entirely, making sync simpler and eliminating version-pinning complexity.
  • SkillsLock and LockedSkill types
  • src/lib/lockfile.ts module
  • Lockfile update calls from save, push, and remove commands

Migration

Run skill upgrade in each repository that uses Overskill:

skill upgrade
