EasyDMG 2.5.0
This update makes EasyDMG smarter about updating apps you've renamed or organized into subfolders, adds more control over keeping existing copies, and makes installation problems easier to recover from.
- Update apps where you keep them. EasyDMG can now recognize existing apps you've renamed or moved into subfolders within your selected install location and update them in place.
- Keep both copies. When an existing app is renamed or in a subfolder, a new Keep Both option lets you preserve it and install the incoming app in your selected install folder, provided that destination is free and there aren't multiple matching copies.
- Clearer replacement dialogs. Redesigned prompts make installed and incoming versions easier to compare and show the existing app's name and location when needed. Ambiguous matches require confirmation before replacement.
- Optional failure alerts in Silent mode. A new setting lets EasyDMG notify you if an installation fails while keeping routine manual handoffs quiet. Existing Silent mode users stay silent after upgrading unless they enable the option.
- Keep your DMG when an install doesn't finish. Canceled, skipped, or blocked installations now preserve the original disk image, even with automatic trashing enabled. Canceling also leaves volumes open if they were already mounted before EasyDMG started.
- Better recovery when copying fails. Clearer guidance helps with macOS permission restrictions and other copy problems, with a handoff to Finder when manual installation can help. Replacement restrictions are checked before asking you to quit a running app.
- More useful storage and drive warnings. Low-space messages show how much additional space is needed when it can be determined. EasyDMG also explains disconnected-drive failures and warns when a custom install folder uses a drive format unsuitable for Mac apps.
- Smoother handling of already-open disk images. Improved reuse of mounted DMGs and clearer manual-install guidance for images with license agreements, package installers, or multiple apps. Added safeguards against stalls while checking mounted images.
- More reliable EasyDMG updates. Fixed automatic quitting that could interrupt an update check or close an active update prompt.
- Polished prompts and documentation. Improved dialog wording, alignment, and long folder-path wrapping, and added common questions and clearer logging information to the documentation.
