Choose a tag to compare

@jeffbristow jeffbristow released this 26 Oct 03:31

A small update for Sealpost 1.13.0. There are no new installers. Sealpost on Windows, macOS and Linux updates itself to 1.13.1:

  • From 1.12.0 or 1.13.0: Settings → About & updates → Check for updates.
  • From 1.11.0 or older, or without the button: download Sealpost-1.13.1.sealpost below, then Settings → About & updates → Install update file…
  • New install: use the 1.13.0 installers, then check for updates.
File For
Sealpost-1.13.1.sealpost Update file for an existing install (all systems)
Sealpost-source-1.13.1.zip Source code (the same as the v1.13.1 tag)

New in Sealpost 1.13.1

  • Folder icons: right-click any folder → Choose icon… and pick one of about 85 icons. A pinned folder can show its own icon instead of 📌; Use default icon puts the usual one back.
  • A renamed or moved folder keeps its icon (and its pin); a deleted folder's icon goes with it.
  • Icons sync with your other devices and with Sealpost Web (server 1.11.1 or newer).

Earlier versions: see the version history in sealpost/README.md.

@jeffbristow jeffbristow released this 26 Oct 01:07

Sealpost is an email client with OpenPGP built in (sign, encrypt, decrypt, verify, key management) for Windows, macOS and Linux. It works with the email account you already have. Sealpost Server is a small PHP package for your own website: it adds Sealpost Web, webmail for that same account, kept in sync with the desktop app, which can be added to an iPhone or Android home screen. Sealpost Server is not an email server — your mail stays with your email provider.

The Mac and Linux files are added by GitHub's build machines a few minutes after this release appears.

Windows: the installer isn't code-signed, so SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC". Click More info → Run anyway.

Mac: the app isn't notarized. The first time, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway (macOS 12: right-click Sealpost in Applications → Open).

Linux: passwords are kept in your login keyring (GNOME Keyring / KDE Wallet).

Server, new install: upload the contents of sealpost-server/, copy config.example.php to config.php and set your own setup_code, then open status.php. Servers on 1.10.0 or newer update themselves (Settings → Server updates). The zip contains no config.php, so yours is kept.

New in Sealpost 1.13.0

  • addy.io aliases (Settings → addy.io aliases → I use addy.io). Writing through an addy.io alias puts the real recipient inside the To address: shop+sam=example.org@example.com goes to sam@example.org. With the setting on, Sealpost encrypts to, looks up online and assigns the key of that real address. The To address stays as it is, so the mail still goes through addy.io.
  • addy.io's own domains and the domains of your "Send as" addresses are recognised by themselves. Add other custom domains under My other addy.io domains.
  • The composer's key chips show the real recipient ("via addy.io"), and warn that a signature or attached key shows the addresses on your key.
  • Find key online now also assigns an imported key to the contact for that address if it had none.
  • The setting syncs with Sealpost Web (server 1.11.0 or newer).

Upgrading from 1.12.0: Settings → About & updates → Check for updates. From 1.11.0 or older: install this version once with the installer or the .sealpost file (Install update file…).

Also included: Sealpost Server 1.11.0

  • The same addy.io setting in Sealpost Web.

Earlier versions: see the version history in sealpost/README.md and, for the server, README.txt.
