Release list
authexodus 0.1.0
First public release.
authexodus is a Mac app for getting your two-factor codes out of Authy. Authy has no export, so the app walks you through capturing the encrypted backup Authy downloads to your iPhone or iPad, then decrypts it on your Mac with your own backup password. From there you can send your codes to Bitwarden (matched to your existing logins), 1Password, 2FAS, Aegis, Proton Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or any authenticator that scans standard QR codes.
What you need
- A Mac running macOS 11 or later, Apple silicon or Intel
- An iPhone or iPad with Authy on it, on the same home or office Wi-Fi as the Mac
- Your Authy backup password, with backups and multi-device turned on in Authy
- About 20 minutes
Install
Download authexodus_0.1.0_universal.dmg, open it and drag authexodus into Applications. The app is signed and notarized by Apple.
To check the download, put both files in one folder and run:
shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt
Good to know
- Authy's own 7-digit accounts (Twitch, for example) can't be copied out. The app lists them so you can set each one up again by hand.
- The method relies on Authy accepting a certificate you install yourself. If Twilio ever blocks that, the app will say so and point you to the manual guide. Your codes stay in Authy either way.
- Your codes and passwords stay on your Mac. The app has no analytics and no accounts.
- Not affiliated with Twilio or Bitwarden.
If something goes wrong, please open an issue with your macOS, iOS and Authy versions. Never include codes, QR codes or passwords.
