What is this?

A ridiculous experimental image format.

Why does this exist?

It started as a quest to display animated gifs on low-end ESP32 hardware with a 16-bit TFT display. JIF makes the decoding/displaying of these animations much easier than using GIF directly.

Should I use this?

Almost certainly not.

Does it work?

Yes.
