🐛 Bug Fix: Power State Synchronization

  • Stale Boot Profiles Fixed: Fixed an edge case where shutting down the laptop on AC power and booting it up on battery would leave the system stuck in Performance mode. Nitrous now asynchronously polls the live battery status the moment it boots and instantly applies the correct power and fan profiles.
  • Windows Power Cache Race Condition: Added a micro-delay to the Windows power event monitor. This allows the OS internal battery cache to fully update before Nitrous reads it, preventing the wrong profile from being applied when the charger is rapidly plugged or unplugged.

Nitrous 0.6.1 requires the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime.

0.6.0

Choose a tag to compare

@jeremyaliparo jeremyaliparo released this 23 Aug 10:54

This is a major architectural update for Nitrous, focusing on seamless hardware compatibility, advanced cooling controls, and preserving a pure, zero-bloat footprint.

✨ New Features & Enhancements

  • Independent Custom Fan Sliders: You now have granular, independent control over both the CPU and GPU fans. Dial in your exact acoustic and thermal preferences for each processor.
  • Precision UI Controls: The custom fan sliders are now fully typable and support fine-tuning using the keyboard arrow keys for exact percentage adjustments.
  • Zero-Bloat Background Engine: Nitrous has been split into a multi-process architecture. The UI is now completely decoupled from the background tray process, ensuring 0% background GPU/CPU overhead when the dashboard is closed.

🐛 Bug Fixes & Hardware Compatibility

  • Advanced Optimus MUX Fix: Resolved a critical issue where Nitrous would hold a persistent hardware lock on the dGPU. Advanced Optimus can now seamlessly and automatically switch display modes (Optimus / dGPU only) without Nitrous blocking the pipeline.
  • Optimized WMI Payload Delivery: Cleaned up Acer Embedded Controller (EC) commands for faster, more reliable fan curve and power state switching.

0.5.0

@jeremyaliparo jeremyaliparo released this 22 Aug 13:25

Release Notes (0.5.0)

Description:
This is the biggest update to Nitrous yet. We have officially evolved from a silent system tray background script into a full-fledged, hardware utility app. We brought everything into a beautifully modern, hardware-accelerated interface without sacrificing our promise: absolute zero-bloat.

🎉 Brand New Features

  • The Nitrous Dashboard: A beautifully designed, dark-mode WPF user interface. Say goodbye to right-clicking the system tray for everything! Simply click the tray icon or use your Nitro hotkey to bring up the hub.
  • Granular Fan Control: We added a brand new interactive slider for Custom Fan speeds. You can now dial in your exact fan speed from 0% to 100%. The slider smartly grays itself out when you hand control back to the system via Auto or Max modes.
  • Active Logic Automation Tab: We built a dedicated, iOS-style settings page to easily toggle your automated rules: 80% Battery Limit, Smart Refresh Rates, AC/DC Power Auto-Switching, and Silent Startup.
  • Dynamic Hardware HUD: The dashboard now reads your exact motherboard model and displays it in the title bar alongside a real-time, color-coded AC/Battery status pill.
  • Crisp Vector Graphics: We completely ripped out font-based emojis that look different on every PC. The entire app is now powered by native, infinitely scaling SVG icons for razor-sharp aesthetics.

🔧 Under-the-Hood Fixes & Optimizations

  • Zero-Bloat Promise Kept: Fixed a critical bug where certain Embedded Controllers (ECs) would ignore the "Auto" command and get stuck at manual speeds. Nitrous now strictly targets Fan 1 (CPU) and Fan 4 (GPU) to wipe PWM registers before handing control safely back to the motherboard.
  • Memory Leak Patches: We tracked down and patched hidden RAM leaks by strictly managing WMI COM objects and background OS Process handles. Nitrous will stay incredibly lightweight, even if left running for weeks.
  • Network Optimization: The background Auto-Updater was rewritten to utilize a shared network client, eliminating the risk of background socket exhaustion.

Note

Nitrous 0.5.0 Requires the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime.

0.4.0

@jeremyaliparo jeremyaliparo released this 21 Aug 11:27

Release Notes (0.4.0)

Description:
This is a massive update that brings highly requested automation features, a complete under-the-hood architectural rewrite, and critical hardware bug fixes. A massive shoutout to @Baymax0251 for the rigorous hardware testing on the Acer Nitro V 15 (ANV15-52)!

🎉 Brand New Features

  • In-App Auto-Updater: Nitrous will now automatically check GitHub for new releases in the background! If a new version is available, it will prompt you and handle the download/replacement seamlessly.
  • Smart Refresh Rate Switching: Nitrous now automatically drops your laptop screen to 60Hz to save battery when unplugged, and boosts it back to your maximum refresh rate (e.g., 144Hz/165Hz) when you plug back in. (Note: This safely disables itself if you are using an external monitor so it won't ruin your desk setup!)
  • AC/DC State Memory: Nitrous now has two separate memory banks. If you are gaming on Turbo and unplug your laptop, it safely drops to Quiet. Plug it back in, and it instantly snaps right back to Turbo.
  • Quiet Fan Mode: Added a new 25% "Quiet" fan override mode for silent browsing or media consumption.

🐛 Hardware Fixes & Refactors

  • The "Stuck Auto" Fan Fix: Fixed a critical bug where certain Embedded Controllers (ECs) would ignore the "Auto" command and get stuck at manual speeds. Nitrous now strictly targets Fan 1 (CPU) and Fan 4 (GPU) to wipe PWM registers before handing control safely back to the motherboard.
  • OOP Rewrite: The entire app has been cleanly rewritten into a modular, Object-Oriented architecture, making it faster, more stable, and ready for future UI updates.

Note

Nitrous 0.4.0 Requires the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime.
