PragmaticAudio Lossless 1.0.0 (build 44) for macOS
Test build, signed with Developer ID and notarised by Apple. macOS 14 or newer. Open the disk image and drag the app to Applications.
New in build 44: Plex Discover (Library → Plex → Discover)
- Time Capsule: what you played this week in earlier years.
- Made from your library: Forgotten favourites (played often, not for six months), Deep cuts (unplayed tracks from albums you play), Top rated, Library radio and Time Travel radio (through the decades).
- Plex's own rows (Recently played, Most played, mixes), random and top-rated albums, and decades, genres, moods and styles to browse by.
- Artist radio on every artist page. With Plex Pass and sonic analysis: More like this and Sonic adventure in a track's menu.
- Anything your server can't do is simply not shown.
Also new in build 44
- Media keys and the Now Playing widget play, pause and skip the Library.
- The Library is the default source. System audio is turned on in Settings → System audio; turning it off offers to remove the audio output.
- Settings → Bluetooth (experimental): Bluetooth headphones get the one rate conversion in the app, with a high-quality filter.
In build 43
- Translations reviewed in every language (German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Chinese); the last English-only messages, including the Mac audio output's, now follow the app's language.
- Security: the Plex token is kept in the Keychain and never written to logs; logs hide passwords and tokens.
- Battery: far less work while paused or in the background; the visualiser runs only when it is on screen; after 10 minutes paused, receivers are released.
In build 42
- Bluetooth headphones and speakers are now shown as re-encoded, not lossless, when playing on this Mac (a Bluetooth step in the audio chain, red).
- Offline albums show track numbers, and under each track only what differs (a guest artist, another format).
Offline music (build 41)
- In the library, choose Make available offline in any album's, playlist's, folder's or track's menu (⋮), or Download on a Plex album, artist or playlist page. The original files are kept on this Mac, untouched.
- The library's new Offline tab plays them with no network: by album, Plex playlists in their own order, or by where they came from. Remove albums, folders or single tracks there; Settings → Offline music shows the space used and can remove it all.
- Downloads never leave less than 1 GB free on the Mac, and a warning shows when space is low.
- Deleting the app also removes its offline music, a minute after it is moved to the Bin (macOS shows a "Background Items Added" notice the first time).
Also new
- Library "View as": albums, artists and playlists as a grid of covers, a list or a compact list, remembered for each kind of screen.
- Play, Shuffle, Add to queue and Download on album, artist and playlist pages, with track numbers.
- AirPlay 2 to HIFIMAN WiFi headphones and other shairport-sync receivers, including AirPlay 2 buffered at ALAC 48 kHz / 24-bit.
- The queue opens from the play controls (Live audio, Source) and Now playing.
- Moving the app to the Bin also removes its audio output, a minute later.

PragmaticAudio Lossless 1.0.0 (build 39) for macOS
Test build, signed with Developer ID and notarised by Apple. macOS 14 or newer. Open the disk image and drag the app to Applications.
- Stream bit-perfect from Plex, SMB network shares, DLNA servers, cloud drives, local files, or what the Mac plays, to AirPlay 1 and 2 speakers, DLNA / UPnP players, WiiM / LinkPlay and Chromecast.
- New: AirPlay 2 to HIFIMAN WiFi headphones and other shairport-sync receivers, including AirPlay 2 buffered at ALAC 48 kHz / 24-bit. Automatic picks the route that changes the music least.
- System audio: the app adds an audio output, "PragmaticAudio Lossless" (it asks for an administrator password once). Choose System audio under Source and pick where it goes; what the Mac plays is sent there.
- Uninstalling: Settings → Audio output → Remove, or just move the app to the Bin: the audio output is removed by itself about a minute later.
- Green / orange / red shows what happens to the music on the way.

Also new in build 44
- Headset and Bluetooth buttons, the lock screen and the media notification now play, pause and skip the Library.
- The Library is the default source. Capturing other apps' audio is now in Settings → System audio, with what Android requires (it asks "Start recording or casting?" each time).
- Settings → Bluetooth (experimental): shows the codec your headphones use (LDAC, aptX, AAC…) and its rate, makes the one rate conversion in the app with a high-quality filter, and tells you when Developer options could remove it.
In build 43
- Translations reviewed in every language (German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Chinese); the last English-only messages now follow the app's language.
- Security: the Plex token is stored encrypted on the phone and never written to logs; logs hide passwords and tokens; app data is no longer included in Android backups.
- Battery: far less work while paused or in the background; the visualiser runs only when it is on screen; after 10 minutes paused, receivers are released.
In build 42
- Bluetooth headphones and speakers are now shown as re-encoded, not lossless, when playing on this phone (a Bluetooth step in the audio chain, red).
- With System audio, This phone stays listed under Send to and says why it can't play there (other apps already play on the phone), with a "Play Library here" button.
- Offline albums show track numbers, and under each track only what differs (a guest artist, another format).
Offline music (build 41)
- In the library, choose Make available offline in any album's, playlist's, folder's or track's menu (⋮), or Download on a Plex album, artist or playlist page. The original files are kept on the phone, untouched, in the app's own storage (no storage permission needed; removed if the app is uninstalled).

- The queue opens from the play controls (Live audio, Source) and Now playing.
- HIFIMAN WiFi headphones play over AirPlay 1 (bit-perfect 44.1 kHz / 16-bit); their AirPlay 2 mode needs timing ports Android keeps for the system.
