@jessawolfe-ux jessawolfe-ux released this 25 Oct 18:19
  • New boards start from Jessa’s poster: “You can literally do anything, if you dream it.” Every piece of it is movable; it’s a start, not a lesson. It’s in the Templates list as “Dream it” too.
  • The Mac app is now signed and notarized with Apple, so it opens on the first double-click, with no “could not verify” warning and no trip to System Settings. Nothing else changed.

Mac: Mochiboard.zip below. Unzip it, drag Mochiboard into Applications, and open it. It’s signed and notarized with Apple, so it opens on the first double-click with no warning.

Windows: Mochiboard-Setup.exe below (it appears a few minutes after this release). Open it and follow the steps. If Edge holds the download, choose Keep from its … menu; if Windows says it “protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway. You only do this once.

@jessawolfe-ux jessawolfe-ux released this 24 Oct 22:25
  • Bring to front and send to back work on everything now. Hovering a card no longer pops it to the top, so the order you set is the order you see.
  • Screens stack like any card: bring one to the front and it covers loose notes, and its own pieces always ride on top of it.
  • Pick a piece out of a group and it moves forward or back on its own; select the whole group and it moves as one.

Mac: Mochiboard.zip below. Unzip it and drag Mochiboard into Applications. The first time, your Mac says it “could not verify Mochiboard is free of malware”: that’s because it isn’t notarized by Apple yet, not because anything is wrong. On macOS 15: double-click it once, click Done, then System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll to Security → Open Anyway. On macOS 13/14: right-click → Open. Once. Details: https://mochiboard.app/code-signing.html

Windows: Mochiboard-Setup.exe below (it appears a few minutes after this release). Open it and follow the steps. If Edge holds the download, choose Keep from its … menu; if Windows says it “protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway.

  • Aligning respects groups: select a whole group and it lines up as one piece, keeping its own layout. Pick pieces out of a group and they line up on their own.

Once. Windows: Mochiboard-Setup.exe below (it appears a few minutes after this release). Open it and follow the steps. If Edge holds the download, choose Keep from its … menu; if Windows says it “protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway.

  • Updates find you even if Mochiboard stays open all day: it checks every hour and whenever you come back to it, then shows the banner (and with auto-update on, gets the update ready right away).

Mac: Mochiboard.zip below. Unzip it, drag Mochiboard into Applications, then right-click it and choose Open the first time (it isn't from the App Store, so your Mac asks once).

Windows: Mochiboard-Setup.exe below (it appears a few minutes after this release). Open it and follow the steps. If Edge holds the download, choose Keep from its … menu; if Windows says it “protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway.

  • The Pen: draw any shape with points and curves. Double-click any shape to pull its points, round just the corners you pick, or make a corner smooth.
  • Strokes on boxes, screens and shapes: solid, dashed or dotted, with your own dash and gap. No fill leaves a clean outline in the color it had.
  • Squiggly lines: turn any line wavy, zigzag or loopy, then tighten it, round it, or give it a hand-drawn wobble.
  • Text, your way: type any size, set line height and letter spacing, align left, center or right, and switch between UPPERCASE, lowercase and Title Case. Titles wrap when you resize them, notes and checklists grow as you type, and Shift-drag scales text with its box.
  • Line things up: pink alignment guides for everything, buttons to align and space evenly, and rotate or scale several things at once.
  • Name your Mochi in Settings → Mochi, and try Calm (she sits still) or Calmest (softer colors too). Calm modes were Nikunj Tyagi's idea, thank you ♡
  • Settings → Toolbar: pick small, medium or large icons; anything that doesn't fit tucks into a ··· menu. Drag the bottom of your boards list, Layers, Wireframe or Unsorted to any height.
  • Mochi's music plays right from its little pill, and the colors under the color wheel come from your board.
  • Send feedback right from Settings → About.
  • Fixes: the text bar always shows up, aligning works on the first click, the resize corner stays on its box, text stays sharp when you zoom in, lines show up in Safari, menus never hide behind Mochi, and the Windows update banner is back.

  • Documents open on top of your widgets again, instead of underneath them.
  • The sound and captions buttons on videos match, and stay soft when you hover.

  • Make the sidebars yours: drag any widget by its title into a spot on either side (little boxes show where it can go). Turn widgets on and off in Settings → Widgets, where Reset layout puts everything back. The Boards panel always stays.
  • Dress up Mochi: a new widget with hats, glasses, scarves, a balloon and more. Hover to try things on, click to wear them, and she wears her outfit everywhere she shows up.
  • Mochi's music: a new widget with three little lo-fi songs (Strawberry Milk Beats, Cloud Desk and Jelly Jog) that loop seamlessly while you work. It never plays on its own.
  • Bring to front and send to back: right-click a card, or press ⇧⌘] / ⌘] / ⌘[ / ⇧⌘[. Layers follows along.
  • Click the zoom % at the bottom for Zoom in, Zoom out, 100%, Zoom to fit and quick sizes. Or press ⌘+, ⌘−, ⌘0 and ⇧1.
  • Flip your camera: video cards mirror you like a selfie, or tap Flip to see the room the right way round. Your video saves just the way it looked.
  • Videos can be written out too: tap the little captions button on a video, and what you said shows up underneath, ready to copy or turn into notes.
  • Smoother on a Mac: hovering over notes no longer makes the board stutter, and the little Mochis use half the effort to animate.
  • On Windows, Mochiboard talks about your PC, File Explorer and PowerShell, and the browser version shows Ctrl shortcuts on Windows and Linux.
  • Without Claude, Mochi still writes out your voice memos and videos, and doesn't offer notes she can't make.

  • Mochiboard for Windows! The same board on your PC, with Ctrl shortcuts. Download it from mochiboard.app.
  • Text stays sharp at any zoom, even on boards with Spotify players or videos: once you stop zooming, everything is drawn fresh at the size you see. New pictures keep their full Retina detail too.
  • Smoother zooming and panning: a pinch with little pauses no longer stutters, and the board waits until you're really done before redrawing everything sharp.
  • Pick your camera and microphone in Settings → General, or from the little menu on video and voice memo cards. Remembered for next time.
  • On Windows, voice memos get written out by Whisper, right on your computer. Mochi asks once; it's a one-time download.
  • Updates and the tour now live in Settings → About.
  • Spotify on your board: paste a link to a song, album, playlist, podcast or artist and it becomes Spotify's own player. Click it once, then press play.

Mac: Mochiboard.zip below. Unzip it, drag Mochiboard into Applications, then right-click it and choose Open the first time (it isn't from the App Store, so your Mac asks once).
