State from a version that no longer exists is worse than absent: a queue holding
entries for a mechanism since deleted, a mark claiming a process that never ran,
a hook wired for a class the package no longer ships. Each reads as current while
answering about a system that has moved, and this repo shipped the last of those
once — it killed `sync` mid-install in a consumer.

It clears the sentinel files, the worlds, and the hook counters, and rewires the
hooks from the registry as it stands today. The PROFILES are committed source,
the PLAN is the work and the JOURNAL is the record: none of the three is touched.

Lanes are SHOWN by default and removed only with `--lanes`, and one holding
uncommitted work is kept and named whatever the flag says. The whole reason a
builder checkpoints is that committed work cannot be mistaken for work never
done, and the uncommitted kind is the one loss nothing here can undo.

It names each thing it cleared rather than reporting a count, because a cleanup
that says "done" is one a reader has to go and verify by hand.
