Font read cache test build (fixes Dissidia 012 menu lag)
Test build: flash0 font read cache. This build fixes lag in text-heavy screens of games that use the PSP system font. Known case: the Dissidia 012 [duodecim] menus froze for about 280 ms on every cursor move. See the README for details and upstream PR isage/Adrenaline#191.
This is an unofficial test build. It's built from upstream master at 4919c49 (newer than v8.0.2) plus the single fix commit 7830d65. Once the fix is merged upstream, use the official release instead.
Install (existing Adrenaline users)
- Back up
ux0:app/PSPEMUCFW/sce_module/so you can go back. - Extract
Adrenaline-fontfix-modules.zip, then copy the four files fromsce_module/intoux0:app/PSPEMUCFW/sce_module/, replacing the old ones. - If your
ur0:tai/config.txt(orux0:tai/config.txt) loadsadrenaline_kernel.skprxfrom a path outsideux0:app/PSPEMUCFW/sce_module/(for exampleur0:tai/adrenaline_kernel.skprx), copy the newadrenaline_kernel.skprxto that path too, so the kernel and user modules match. - Reboot the Vita.
Adrenaline-fontfix.vpk is the full package, intended for fresh installs (see the upstream install guide).
Warning
Don't use System Settings → System Update inside Adrenaline while on this build. It installs the official version, which doesn't include this fix yet.
Tested
- Dissidia 012 (ULUS10566) on a real PS Vita: the menu lag is gone, the game holds ~30 fps, and no text corruption was seen.
- XMB text in English, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese (game list, Saved Data Utility, settings, Epinephrine CFW settings, VSH menu) renders correctly.
- Other games, text OK: Digimon World Re:Digitize, Star Ocean: First Departure, Tales of Eternia, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, Itadaki Street. Switching games back to back works.
- Dissidia 012: one hour of play, plus sleep and resume in the menu, without regressions.
