This is the first unified Avalonia preview of Frame Player for Windows and macOS.

It replaces the earlier split preview builds:

  • macOS Preview 0.1.1
  • Windows Avalonia Preview 0.1.0

The stable Windows WPF release remains v1.8.4. This preview is for reviewing the new shared Windows/macOS application direction.

Downloads

  • Windows x64: FramePlayer-Windows-x64-unified-preview-0.2.0.zip
  • macOS Apple Silicon: FramePlayer-macOS-arm64-unified-preview-0.2.0.zip
  • SHA256 files are attached for both ZIPs.

Install

Windows:

  1. Download and extract the Windows ZIP.
  2. Run FramePlayer.Avalonia.exe.

macOS:

  1. Download and unzip the macOS ZIP.
  2. Move Frame Player.app to /Applications.
  3. Launch Frame Player.app.

The macOS build is Developer ID signed, notarized, and stapled. Apple Intel and Linux builds are not part of this preview.

What To Review

Please focus on whether this feels like one Frame Player app across Windows and macOS:

  • Opening common video files.
  • Play, pause, seek, frame step, and frame-number jump behavior.
  • Single-pane review and two-pane compare review.
  • Compare sync controls, linked zoom, context menus, and focused-pane behavior.
  • Loop review and export commands.
  • Recent files, Video Info, diagnostics, and disabled command states before media is loaded.
  • Windows audio playback with H.264/AAC media.
  • macOS launch behavior under Gatekeeper.

Known Scope

  • Windows stable remains the WPF v1.8.4 release line.
  • This preview uses the unified Avalonia app path under src/FramePlayer.Avalonia.
  • Apple Silicon macOS only for this preview.
  • Linux is planned after the Windows/macOS unification pass.
  • The older split preview releases are deprecated and remain available only as historical validation records.
