Release list
oneprompt 0.1.0-alpha.7
Opens cleanly when installed with Homebrew, and a worn sheet freshens as you type.
Install: brew install --cask jhasubhash/tap/oneprompt (or brew upgrade --cask oneprompt), or download the dmg below and drag oneprompt into Applications. Signed and notarized; Apple silicon and Intel; macOS 11 or later.
Fixed
- No "Apple could not verify oneprompt" warning: the app now carries its own notarization ticket, so it opens even when macOS can't check with Apple online, as when Homebrew copies it out of the dmg.
Changed
- A worn sheet freshens as you type: typing into a tab whose sheet has worn for over a minute eases the wear away over a few seconds, and the sheet then ages afresh.
SHA-256 (oneprompt-0.1.0-alpha.7.dmg): 9c8a2e6fded1b7ab2a26cb6d564d58c025d216ec27112a751f36859a74b340e6
oneprompt 0.1.0-alpha.6
A file browser beside the pane, and clearing that blows the writing away.
Install: brew install --cask jhasubhash/tap/oneprompt (or brew upgrade --cask oneprompt), or download the dmg below and drag oneprompt into Applications. Signed and notarized; Apple silicon and Intel; macOS 11 or later.
New
- File browser (Cmd+B): a column down the right of the pane, on the folder your shell is in, following it as you
cd. Arrows or the pointer move, typing filters, Esc goes back through the folders you visited and closes it where it started. Return opens a file right in the terminal: Markdown rendered, pictures inline, text inless, anything else in its app; Space shows it in Quick Look. Copy paths, put them at the prompt (Tab, or drag onto the terminal),cdthe shell into a folder (Cmd+Return), edit in$EDITOR, reveal in the Finder, make folders and files, rename, move to the Trash; right-click for everything. It's written in the theme's own ink and font, and comes in the theme's way, as the settings panel does. - Clearing crumbles the writing to dust: in Tsushima and on the Chalkboard,
clear(Cmd+K) breaks the text into specks that blow away, Tsushima's glowing like embers as they go. New settings:dust_timeand Tsushima'sdust_glow. - Folds run through the writing: on a worn Tsushima sheet, the ink along a fold is rubbed thin and shaded with the crease.
Changed
- Closing the window is instant: Cmd+W on the last pane, the close control or quitting no longer waits for the closing effect. Tabs and panes still go the theme's way.
SHA-256 (oneprompt-0.1.0-alpha.6.dmg): f554ef8ff6dc5fe2391100460dcb23fdee256726a65a631b0055a18bf7d428d8
oneprompt 0.1.0-alpha.5
Pictures and Markdown in the terminal, and a calmer screen.
Install: brew install --cask jhasubhash/tap/oneprompt (or brew upgrade --cask oneprompt), or download the dmg below and drag oneprompt into Applications. Signed and notarized; Apple silicon and Intel; macOS 11 or later.
New
- Pictures inline: the iTerm2 image protocol, as
imgcatand many tools send it. PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP and BMP, fitted to the window, scrolling with the text.oneprompt img photo.png, orimgcatin zsh. - Markdown, styled:
oneprompt md notes.md(ormdin zsh) shows headings, emphasis, code, lists, task lists, quotes, tables and links in the theme's own inks, with local images inline. - Tsushima's clear writes the screen out backwards: line by line from the bottom, each letter lifting off along its stroke.
Fixed
- Permissions stick: programs run in oneprompt (Claude Code reading Photos or a folder) are asked about once, not on every launch. The app now carries descriptions for each permission it may be asked for.
- Scrolling through the scrollback no longer writes the text in again.
- Claude Code: no more grey band behind your messages, and its ⏺ bullet is an ink dot, not a blue emoji.
Also
- The README is short now; everything in detail is in the guide.
- Weather is gone.
SHA-256 (oneprompt-0.1.0-alpha.5.dmg): a9e222d8b6232f13a7f00b09696a0145f8ae387d48af960fd3b7aceeed239858
oneprompt 0.1.0-alpha.4
A big one: thirteen new effects, a third theme, and a settings panel in sections.
Install: brew install --cask jhasubhash/tap/oneprompt (or brew upgrade --cask oneprompt), or download the dmg below and drag oneprompt into Applications. Signed and notarized; Apple silicon and Intel; macOS 11 or later.
New
- Logbook, a third theme: an old ship's log in iron-gall ink on ruled ledger paper, with a red margin, foxing and a compass rose; by lamplight in the dark. Pages turn, quill strikes, wax seals.
- Failed commands are marked beside their prompt (a stroke of seal ink, a chalk cross, a red ink cross), and long commands are stamped when they finish (a hanko, a circled tick, a wax seal). zsh shell integration is automatic; fish 4 and bash work too (see the README).
- Clearing burns the screen away from where you typed
clear(or Cmd+K, Ctrl+L); on the Chalkboard the chalk drifts off as dust. - Closing burns, tears or slides the sheet away: tabs and the window burn in Tsushima; a closed pane is slashed to pieces, torn out like a notebook page in Logbook, or slides off the Chalkboard.
- Ink dries and ages: fresh ink is wet and glossy, old ink fades. The paper ages with use: it yellows and creases over hours.
- Idle scenes: maple leaves fall onto a window left alone; chalk dust settles.
- A living cursor: a trail of ink when it jumps, a heartbeat while it is still.
- Pasted text lands as a splash of ink.
- Progress in ink: programs that report progress (OSC 9;4) get a stroke along the title strip.
- Quiet sounds (off by default): brush, sword, seal, chalk.
- Settings panel in folding sections, coming in the theme's way (a scroll unrolling, a page turning, a sliding board) and going back out the same way.
- Full-screen apps shrink to fit a split pane, and find takes regular expressions (Cmd+R in the find bar).
- Claude Code: its grey message bands are left out so the paper shows through, and its ⏺ bullet is an ink dot rather than a blue emoji.
Every effect has its own setting, in the panel (Cmd+,) and the settings file.

oneprompt 0.1.0-alpha.3
Third alpha of oneprompt: input methods, links, find and splits.
Install: open the dmg and drag oneprompt into Applications. Signed and notarized, so it opens without warnings. Runs on Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 11 or later.
New since alpha.2
- Splits: Cmd+D side by side, Cmd+Shift+D one above the other, each pane its own shell in the same folder. Move between panes with Cmd+Option+arrows, Cmd+] / Cmd+[ or a click; drag the dividers to resize. Each theme draws its dividers: Tsushima cuts them with a sword, Chalkboard rules them in chalk
- Find (Cmd+F): every match in the scrollback highlighted, Return / Shift+Return to older and newer matches, Esc leaves the current one selected
- Clickable links: hold Cmd to see the link under the pointer, Cmd+click to open it: web addresses, OSC 8 hyperlinks and files that exist (
src/main.rs:12opens the file) - Input methods: Chinese, Japanese, Korean and accents typed as two keys are composed at the cursor
- Resizing the window no longer makes the text jitter
This is an alpha: expect rough edges.

oneprompt 0.1.0-alpha.2
Second alpha of oneprompt: a new theme, a theme picker and a settings panel.
Install: open the dmg and drag oneprompt into Applications. Signed and notarized, so it opens without warnings. Runs on Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 11 or later.
New since alpha.1
- Chalkboard theme: charcoal on white stone in the light, chalk on black slate in the dark, wiped clean with an eraser when it takes over
- Theme picker (Cmd+Option+T): every theme as a live preview of your own screen
- Settings panel (Cmd+,): the theme, appearance, fonts, each theme's own settings, animation and terminal options, with changes shown live. It stays in sync with
~/.config/oneprompt/config.tomlboth ways and keeps your comments; Cmd+O in the panel opens the file - Deleted files struck out: when a file or folder named on screen is deleted, every mention of it is struck through, with a sword cut and blood in Tsushima and a chalk line and dust in Chalkboard (
strike_deleted,strike_splatter) - Light / dark switches spread like watercolour
- Themes are now isolated modules on a shared framework (see CONTRIBUTING.md to add one)
This is an alpha: expect rough edges. Not yet: IME, clickable links, search, splits.
