vMLX 1.6.16

Emergency parser, cache, and bundled-runtime checkpoint.

Highlights:

  • Ships the KaTeX-backed Electron renderer fix for inline and display LaTeX so model math no longer appears as raw dollar delimiters or backslash syntax in chat/reasoning surfaces.
  • Preserves separate reasoning_content, visible output, and tool-call streaming in the scoped Laguna/Qwen/Bonsai paths proved for this gate.
  • Hardens packaged engine provenance so signed app sessions use bundled Python/vmlx_engine instead of stale development or system virtualenvs.
  • Retains scoped block-disk/L2/TurboQuant cache fixes and proofs, including Paged-Off SSD/TQ reuse paths covered by the current reruns.
  • Bundles vmlx_engine 1.6.16 and corrected local jang_tools 2.5.34 from source commit 2e85095f55b1b64cbb6e8264c82a074a3cc28250, with source-hash parity verification.

Verification:

  • Exact source: f3426fb412588856a47f53b8549700267605c00f / v1.6.16.
  • Scoped r16_parser_cache preflight passed on the release head.
  • Focused Python/panel tests, TypeScript typecheck, math/reasoning renderer tests, engine-path policy, cache-control policy, and current Electron/API reruns passed for the scoped gate.
  • Sequoia and Tahoe DMGs were built from local source, Developer ID signed, Apple notarized, stapled, Gatekeeper accepted, and final verify-release-dmgs.sh passed.
  • Bundled Python verifier passed for vmlx_engine 1.6.16, critical vmlx_engine source parity, critical jang_tools source parity, no editable installs, relocatable console scripts, and critical MLX/VLM/audio/JANG imports.
  • Mounted-DMG import smoke passed on both Sequoia and Tahoe: bundled vmlx_engine=1.6.16 and bundled jang_tools=2.5.34.

Known follow-up:

  • This is a public emergency checkpoint, not full closure of every retained family/media/gateway stress row. Broader family repetition, media/audio/video matrix, exhaustive gateway soak, complete retained full-matrix closure, PyPI JANG publish, and remaining documented PARTIAL rows remain follow-up work.
