WinCurl 3.0 introduces a massive overhaul to the classic curling formula. Featuring a 3D isometric view, advanced physics simulation, dynamic UI, cross-platform network matchmaking, and an epic RPG-lite Story Mode, WinCurl brings the strategic depth of real curling right to your screen.
- Quick Play (Local): Play a classic curling match against another player locally (pass-and-play).
- Quick Play (Bot): Challenge the WinCurl AI. Features three difficulty tiers.
- Multiplayer (Host/Join): Play against a friend over the internet using a seamless lobby system.
- Story Mode: A sprawling single-player campaign where you level up your stats and fight to save the environment.
- Challenge Mode: 25 levels of target-based minigames and trick shots to sharpen your skills.
WinCurl accurately simulates real curling mechanics, including stone momentum, curl (spin), collisions, and ice friction.
- The Flick: To throw, tap and drag backward from the stone, then quickly flick forward and release. The speed and distance of your flick determine the power of the throw.
- Setting Curl: Before throwing, use the slider at the bottom of the screen to apply spin (curl) to the stone. Curling left or right will cause the stone to curve as it slows down.
- Trajectory Preview: A dynamic aiming line predicts the path of your stone up to a certain distance, simulating collisions in real-time.
Once the stone is released, the real work begins!
- How to Sweep: Tap rapidly anywhere on the screen (or furiously click the mouse) ahead of the moving stone. The sweep intensity meter will fill up based on how fast you tap.
- The Effect: Sweeping reduces the friction of the ice directly in front of the stone. This makes the stone travel further, and also reduces its curl, making it travel straighter. Knowing when to sweep and when to let it curl is the key to winning!
The curling world is under threat! WinCurl's Story Mode places you in a world where modern curling clubs and the very concept of ice and the environment are under threat by profit-hungry tech tycoons, hyper-capitalist investors, and the military-industrial complex.
As you play matches in Story Mode, you earn XP. Winning yields more XP depending on the difficulty of the rink. Leveling up grants you points to spend on three distinct upgrades:
- Power: Increases the maximum velocity limit of your throws, allowing for heavy takeouts.
- Curl Control: Increases the maximum curl factor, allowing for sharper hooks behind guards.
- Trajectory Preview: Lengthens your aiming line, giving you a deeper look into the simulated future.
You must defeat an escalating gauntlet of 8 unique bosses, each with their own AI playstyle:
- CEO Smogsworth (Corporate Lobby): Aggressive AI. Wants to pave the rink for a toxic waste incinerator.
- Tremor (Crypto Mine Rink): Defensive AI. Melting the polar ice caps to liquid-cool his blockchain rigs.
- Poly Mer (Social Media Hub): Chaotic AI. Selling your curling strategies for digital engagement.
- FourElites (The War Room): Balanced AI. Military-industrial complex using curling as a drone strike simulation.
- Dr. Sludge (AI Startup Arena): Aggressive AI. Replaced humanity with curling predictive algorithms.
- Timber Baroness (Metaverse Dome): Defensive AI. Selling virtual water drops in a VR dystopia.
- Baron Von Crude (Big Data Complex): Chaotic AI. Indexed every possible curling move to optimize your defeat.
- Syntax Terror (Cloud Host Club): Balanced AI. The ultimate boss controlling the physics of the game via the cloud.
Sharpen your skills in Challenge Mode! This mode features 25 distinct levels. You get 3 attempts per level to succeed. The challenges rotate through the fundamental shots of curling:
- The Draw: Land your stone safely inside the highlighted target zone.
- The Guard: Place a rock in the target zone just outside the house to protect future throws.
- Takeout: Remove the highlighted enemy rock while keeping your shooter in play.
- Hit and Roll: Hit the enemy rock and roll your shooter into a designated target.
- Double Takeout: A high-power shot requiring you to clear multiple enemy rocks from the house at once.
- Angle Raise: Bump your own guard stone precisely to raise it into an enemy rock.
Play against anyone around the world! Enter a lobby name to Host, and have your friend enter the exact same name to Join.
During network multiplayer, you can press the Chat icon (or hit T / Enter on your keyboard) to send live messages to your opponent.
You can also paste text (including emojis!) from your clipboard into the chat box using Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V on Mac).
You can spice up your chat messages and your multiplayer username using Quake-style color codes! Just type ^ followed by a number from 0-9 before your text to change its color:
-
^0- Black -
^1- Red -
^2- Green -
^3- Yellow -
^4- Blue -
^5- Cyan -
^6- Magenta -
^7- White -
^8- Gray -
^9- Dark Gray
(Example: Typing ^1Hello ^4World will make "Hello" red and "World" blue!)
WinCurl 3.0 supports a fully-featured Save & Resume System for both 1v1 Bot matches and Story Mode.
- You can save your game directly from the Pause Menu in supported modes.
- Saves are managed in 3 distinct slots, presented in a retro 16-bit interface.
- Exiting a match without saving will not wipe your previous save data! The data is only overridden when you explicitly save over a slot.
- Hi-Res Mode (Android Only): For high-end devices, enabling this will use your device's native resolution and enable GPU bilinear filtering for crisp graphics! It's off by default to save battery and boost performance on older devices.
- Engine Optimization: The game uses intelligent UI caching, trajectory caching, and event filtering to maintain a buttery smooth 120 FPS across modern displays.
