Shed v1.0 — good care shows
Shed v1.0 — a self-hosted, shared household husbandry tracker for reptiles, amphibians, and other animals. Good care shows. 🦎
Shed keeps one calm care list for the whole household, credits each keeper by name, and turns completed care into history you can actually use.
Install
Run this on any always-on machine with Docker (an old PC, a NAS, a home server, or a Raspberry Pi):
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jlyfshhh/shed/main/get-shed.sh | bashOpen http://your-server:3000, enter the one-time setup token from shed/.env, and create your Head Keeper account. Re-run the command any time to update without touching your data.
What's in v1.0
- Shared daily care list across everyone's phones, with a one-day carryover.
- Household accounts — a Head Keeper who manages everything, plus Keepers who record care with their own private codes. Every completed task is credited to the person who did it, with a per-member contribution report.
- Full record management — animals (morph, sex, scientific name, enclosure, source, notes), enclosures, care plans, notes, equipment, weights, and feeder inventory, all editable in-app.
- Animal profiles with weight history, care plans, equipment, notes, and full auditable event history.
- Editable care plans — daily, weekly, every-N-day, monthly, and one-time routines per animal.
- Feeder tracking & forecasting from weighed inventory and growth trends.
- Correctable history — fix a mistaken entry without erasing the record.
- Backups you control — JSON/CSV export, in-app restore (merge or replace), and dated SQLite snapshots.
Notes
- Fully self-hosted and LAN-only. No cloud account, no fees, no lock-in.
- Part of the animal-room family: Bask (environment) · Shed (care) · Clarity (water).
- A recordkeeping aid, not a substitute for proper husbandry research.
