Can I use the VOP with a film camera like 8mm, 16mm, 35mm, 70mm

Well... Yes... and no.

The thing is. I do not see a real reason why one cannot use a film camera with the VOP at some point. The commands that are sent to the Pi Camera HQ are basically, Open Shutter, Close Shutter... that's it.

Ok. It also tells the camera what resolution and white balance to use among other things. But for the sake of a Film Camera port. Open and close shutter is the relevant bit. I guess one would have to add in frame advance forward and backward as well for a real film camera. And a video tap would be needed unless you do the line-up optically fully with special ground glass...

The thing is though. I do not have a working motion picture film camera. And even if I scrounge up one. I do not have the money or time that making The VOP work would need. Just setting it up and doing several tests would be tens of thousands of SEK and weeks upon weeks of waiting between shooting and watching a finished print/scan. If you have the infrastructure and leeway in budgets. Go ahead. The code is open source. There are open source projects that can be hooked into for film based cinema cameras that people have been building all over the world.

It can be done. Certainly it can. But not with my resources.

I will not stand in the way of anyone that tries. All I want is that if you do try. I want to know all about it! Ping me! Link me videos of the process. I would love to see it done. And I'm not adverse to merging in new code into the VOP that enables it for people that are not me.
