Release notes

Features

Added payload, a new subcommand which composes content (inline text blocks + file/folder references, with affordances like prefix/suffix text) from a YAML manifest into a single output string.

Pipeline support: Commands can now be chained together with pipes, with each stage adding its own context and prompts:

contextualize -p "Given this codebase:" cat src/ --wrap xml | \
contextualize -p "and these recent changes:" shell "git log --oneline -5" | \
contextualize -p "what should we work on next?" --copy

Improvements

Unified previously per-command options under contextualize (top-level):

  • --prompt: prepend/append up to two strings
  • --wrap: wrap output as a fenced code block (md) or in <paste> tags (xml)
  • --copy: send output to clipboard, with token count
  • --write-file: write output to disk

contextualize now reads piped stdin if no subcommand is invoked.

echo "some text" | contextualize -p "what is this?" --wrap xml
  • Added pipeline positioning controls:

    • --after/-a or --before/-b: designate where command output will appear relative to piped input
    • --position append|prepend: explicit positioning option
  • Simplified README and added detailed usage examples and recipes to docs/usage.md
