Release list
1.2.0
What's new
New tool detection
- Maestro now detects Qoder CLI and Cline CLI config files, on top of the tools it already supports.
Editor improvements
- Syntax highlighting for JavaScript, TypeScript and Python files, so hook and script configs open readable.
- In-editor formatting for JavaScript and TypeScript, alongside the existing JSON, JSONC, YAML, TOML and Markdown formatting.
Fixes
- JSONC formatting now preserves comments and trailing commas instead of rejecting files with comments (the "JSONC formatting would remove comments" error is gone).
- JSONC comments now render with proper syntax highlighting instead of plain white text.
Tooling and CI
pnpm lintnow runs oxlint (correctness, suspicious and perf rules) before ESLint, and both must pass.- CI runs
pnpm format:checkas its first step, so unformatted code fails the build instead of merging.
Installation
Download the .exe or .zip asset from the assets below. Windows portable build: no installer required; unzip if needed and run the executable.
For development: run pnpm install then pnpm dev.
Breaking Changes
None.

1.1.0
What's new
- Live Markdown preview - While editing a Markdown file, a rendered GitHub Flavored Markdown preview shows beside the editor. Links open in your default browser instead of navigating the app window.
- In-editor formatting - Format JSON, JSONC, YAML, TOML and Markdown documents with the toolbar button or
Ctrl+Shift+F. Formatting stays unsaved until you hit save. - Optional soft wrapping - Enable line wrapping for long editor lines from Settings.
- Multi-root tool locations - Tools can register several directories grouped by section. OpenCode, Gemini CLI and Codex CLI now resolve their roots through XDG overrides and
CODEX_HOME, and the sidebar groups folder rows by section.
Fixes
- The editor cursor and selection stay in their original position after saving instead of jumping to the start of the document.
- Maestro's own saves no longer appear as external file changes, because writes use a temporary file and atomic rename.
- Markdown preview links no longer navigate the app window and instead open in the default browser.
- Registered subfolders opened from the sidebar keep normal folder navigation and back button behavior.
Changed
- The minimum window width is now 480 pixels, so the app fits narrow displays.
- Directories for OpenCode, Gemini and Codex are probed with existence guards, so missing or overridden locations no longer produce empty or broken entries.
Security
- Backups of secret-flagged config files are now encrypted at rest with OS-managed keys (DPAPI on Windows). Existing plaintext secret backups are migrated in place on first launch, and no backup is written when encryption is unavailable.
- File reads, backup snapshots and destructive operations are hardened against symlink swap races inside registered folders. New files are created exclusively so planted symlinks cannot be followed.
- DevTools are disabled in packaged builds and window navigation is locked to the app's own entry page.
- The packaged renderer CSP no longer allows websocket connections to arbitrary hosts.
Download
Grab Maestro-Portable-1.1.0.exe from the assets below. It is a portable executable, no installer required. See the README and CHANGELOG for details.

1.0.0
What's in v1.0.0
This is the first tagged release of Maestro, a Windows desktop app that brings all your AI coding agent configurations under one podium. If you use OpenCode, Aider, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex CLI, Continue, VS Code (VS Code, Insiders, VSCodium), Cline, Roo Code or Kilo Code, Maestro detects their config files, lets you view and edit them in place, diff changes, back up automatically and restore any version - all from one window. It is built for developers who are tired of hunting through dotfiles in every tool directory.
Highlights
- Detects config files and folders for popular AI coding tools out of the box, plus any user-registered custom entry.
- Sidebar navigation with a folder view that lists every detected file for each tool.
- In-app editors for JSON, JSONC, YAML, TOML and Markdown, powered by CodeMirror 6 with syntax highlighting.
- One-click diffs so you can see exactly what changed between the current file and a previous backup.
- Automated backups: every change is snapshotted so you can restore an earlier version any time.
- Custom entries: register any file or folder that Maestro does not know about yet.
- Dark and light theme, toggleable from the UI and kept in sync with the window chrome.
- System tray integration with close-to-tray, so Maestro keeps running in the background when you close the window.
- Single Windows portable executable built with electron-builder - no installer required.
Security
- Content Security Policy meta tag added to the renderer.
- Main process IPC file validation hardened against path traversal and mutation.
- Reconstructed paths validated in the register canonicalize step.
- Backup reads and missing-file opens unblocked after hardening.
- Path validation, store logging and settings schema hardened.
- Backup reads hardened and the app packaged as an ASAR archive.
- IPC errors sanitized, theme leak fixed and context menu wired.
- Preload surface, error copy and path checks tightened.
Installation
- Download the
.exeor.zipasset from the assets below. - Windows portable build: no installer required; unzip if needed and run the executable.
