MiSTer DVD Player v0.2.0 Beta 2

This is a packaging/documentation cleanup release.

Playback binaries are unchanged from Beta 1.

Changes:

• much cleaner install ZIP
• direct download link added to README
• simpler install instructions
• clearer libdvdcss setup instructions
• source/legal material separated from the MiSTer install where appropriate
• corresponding FPGA/HDL for DVD_Player.rbf included in the source archive

No playback changes.

Users already running Beta 1 do not need to update for playback fixes; Beta 2 mainly improves installation/distribution.

libdvdcss is NOT included. Encrypted commercial DVDs require a user-supplied libdvdcss.so.2 at /media/fat/DVD/lib/libdvdcss.so.2.

The exact runtime library filename expected is:

and the expected location is:

/media/fat/DVD/lib/libdvdcss.so.2

Do not imply libdvdcss is supplied by this project. Encrypted commercial DVDs require you to obtain and install it separately.

Beta note

This is beta software. DVD authoring varies significantly between discs, so compatibility reports are welcome through the repository's DVD compatibility Issue Form.

MiSTer DVD Player 0.1.0-beta

Public beta for SuperStation One / MiSTer with an optical drive.

Experimental DVD-Video player: physical discs, ISOs, authored menus,
HDMI and CRT, and DVD ripping to USB. Not a finished commercial appliance.
Stock MiSTer Main is not replaced.

Testing

• PAL physical feature playback: tested
• NTSC ISO: tested
• NTSC physical disc: not tested

Settled samples on the freeze hardware:

• PAL physical feature: 24.99 fps vs 25.00 nominal, 0 new underruns
• NTSC ISO: 29.95 fps vs 29.97 nominal, 0 new underruns

libdvdcss

This release does not ship libdvdcss. Official project:

Check laws that apply to you. Unencrypted discs and ISOs do not depend
on this zip containing CSS.
