A free, offline build planner for City of Heroes: Homecoming that designs, optimizes, and levels character builds from the game's actual combat math — no templates, no account, no AI, nothing sent anywhere.
⬇ Download the latest release — run the Setup exe (recommended) or unzip the portable version. Windows may warn about a new unsigned app the first time: choose More info → Run anyway.
The app runs in your browser with a tray icon next to your clock (right-click it to
open or quit). Your characters are saved in %APPDATA%\HeroCompanion — installs,
updates, and uninstalls never touch them.
- Build a level 50 — pick archetype, powersets, content, and role; the optimizer produces a complete build with IO-set slotting, searched until no single change improves it. As of v0.11, it's calibrated to the current endgame meta (studied from 4,000+ builds shared by one of the community's top builders): ~35% typed defense with real proc valuation, instead of the old 45%-softcap-everything style — and "classic softcap" in your goal still gets you the old way.
- Level 1→50 — a per-level walk of the real Homecoming schedule (including the Arachnos Soldier/Widow level-24 respec and Kheldian rules) with cost-smart enhancement advice.
-
Import the character you actually play — type
/build_save_filein game; the app finds the save itself. - Appraise your drops — recipes and enhancements get keep / convert / sell verdicts with concrete converter paths.
-
Mids Reborn compatible — imports and exports
.mbdboth directions.
- ❓ Help button in the app opens the full user guide (PDF).
- 🐞 Report a bug in the app pre-fills a GitHub issue with your versions.
- 🏆 Submit champion — beat a shipped champion build? Post your candidate; verified wins ship with credit.
- Forum thread: Tools, Utilities & Downloads on the Homecoming forums.
