OpenTag v0.2.22

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Oct 04:15
52e5f10

OpenTag

OpenTag — Tag, Organize, Enjoy.

Release (pre-1.0). Source: 52e5f10e0057.
Feature parity and runtime qualification remain tracked in the parity ledger.

Changes

ci: stop Git's link.exe shadowing MSVC in Windows native builds (#40)

  • Internal: the Windows native UI CI job removes Git's link.exe so Rust build scripts link with the MSVC linker.

docs(guide): publish from opentag Pages on opentag.neerdael.nl (#38)

  • The user guide moves to https://opentag.neerdael.nl/, and Help → Documentation opens that address.
  • Internal: guide publication is a plain Pages deploy from this repository with a CNAME; the audio-tag-guide publisher, deploy key and target workflow are removed. Guide prose is lightly edited for clarity.

Changes

ci: prepare native build toolchains before trusted validation (#37)

OpenTag

OpenTag — Tag, Organize, Enjoy.

Release (pre-1.0). Source: 5c49582da4d4.
Feature parity and runtime qualification remain tracked in the parity ledger.

Changes

Web sources: improve script compatibility and imported results (#20)

  • Accept balanced unquoted parentheses, literal dollar anchors and numeric capture references in format-function arguments.
  • Load sources in subfolders and resolve companion include/settings filenames without case sensitivity; accept consecutive SearchBy triplets.
  • Preserve complete direct lookup and preview URLs, including queries, fragments and existing escapes.
  • Keep JSON member order, selection and text-cursor transitions consistent; correct current-line replacement, search and output-buffer behavior.
  • Decode the complete semicolon-terminated named HTML reference set, normalize numeric references, decode Unicode escapes, and read plain _LENGTH values as milliseconds.
  • Handle long backslash literals and repeated pipe markers without repeated whole-buffer scans; stop runaway retained-line joins with a clear error.

Release (pre-1.0). Source: 21de24598ac0.
Feature parity and runtime qualification remain tracked in the parity ledger.

Changes

Publish reviewed user guide on a neutral Pages URL (#34)

  • The OpenTag user guide uses https://johnneerdael.github.io/audio-tag-guide/ so the reported privacy-filter rules no longer prevent its styles and scripts from loading.
  • Existing chapter bookmarks preserve their path, query and section when redirected, with a plain link available when JavaScript is disabled. Help → Documentation opens the published guide.

dfe2179

OpenTag

OpenTag — Tag, Organize, Enjoy.

Release (pre-1.0). Source: dfe217954161.
Feature parity and runtime qualification remain tracked in the parity ledger.

Changes

Tag sources: Discogs app key, iTunes, Deezer, LRCLIB, AcoustID, Last.fm, fanart.tv (#18)

  • Find album metadata and artwork with iTunes and Deezer. Deezer reads every track page; incomplete iTunes album listings are refused before review.
  • Import LRCLIB lyrics per selected file, choosing plain or synchronized text. Literal lyric delimiters survive ID3 and APE writes.
  • Identify recordings with AcoustID using a separately installed desktop fpcalc, preserving the greatest number of compatible fingerprint assignments and each file’s own AcoustID during review and sorting.
  • Add Last.fm genres and fanart.tv artwork, configure service keys, and use Discogs application authentication when the installed build supplies a key.
  • Review fields, matches and covers before immediate writes, skip files with no selected values, and undo an import as one step. Setup guides explain keys, privacy and provider limits.

OpenTag v0.2.15

dc95b16

OpenTag

OpenTag — Tag, Organize, Enjoy.

Release (pre-1.0). Source: dc95b1662a40.
Feature parity and runtime qualification remain tracked in the parity ledger.

Changes

freedb: comply with the gnudb access policy; text search and cover art (#19)

Finish the freedb client’s gnudb workflow: use its HTTPS service with the configured contact email (or OpenTag’s developer contact), search by the selected files’ track layout or by artist and album, and review a listed entry before writing its metadata. Remote entries are read only after that server returned them in a query or search.

Add Tag Sources → Covers: freedb (gnudb) and artwork choices from entry cover lines or gnudb’s artwork search. Artwork uses the existing MusicBrainz cover-size preference. A matching album does not guarantee available artwork.

Keep typed disc-ID lookup in local freedb databases, alongside selected-file layout and indexed artist/album search. Custom CDDB servers retain layout query/read support; gnudb-only text and artwork commands are limited to recognized gnudb hosts. Rate-limit responses stop with a retry-later message, without automatic retries, and OpenTag does not submit database entries.

Publish complete remote and local freedb how-to chapters and update the menu/server/index guidance, including matching, save timing and troubleshooting.

OpenTag v0.2.13

325007c

OpenTag

OpenTag — Tag, Organize, Enjoy.

Release (pre-1.0). Source: 325007c47bef.
Feature parity and runtime qualification remain tracked in the parity ledger.

Changes

docs: publish ten first-use, folder and playlist chapters (#32)

Add ten detailed user-guide chapters, expanding the completed navigation from 127 to 137 pages while retaining the existing guide. New readers get a first-use path covering actual release packages/signing limits, installation, opening files, workspace counts and save/undo boundaries. Worked folder recipes cover artist/album layouts, multi-disc albums and compilations; playlist/CUE/chapter chapters explain output scopes, encodings, row edits and write limits.

The new examples use copied practice files and explain preview, selection, pending changes, immediate writes, failures and recovery. Fifty planned topics remain drafts and stay out of public navigation/search. This milestone does not claim full Mp3tag semantic coverage, universal filesystem safety, native installation/mobile save-back qualification or availability of unmerged source features. Release-package facts are explicitly pinned to v0.2.12.

Changes

docs: publish 30 detailed chapters and recipes in the 127-page guide (#31)

  • Expand the user guide with 30 detailed chapters and recipes for editing and saving tags, workspace configuration, native metadata storage, artwork, sorting and loudness fields.
  • Add worked cleanup, numbering, artwork and inspection examples that explain action order, missing versus empty values, selection scope, write timing and recovery limits.
  • Make the completed workflows discoverable from the homepage, navigation and search. The guide now contains 127 completed pages; 60 planned topics remain unfinished and excluded from publication.
