OrbitBadge

English documentation for the OrbitBadge ESP32-S3 Round Touchscreen Badge.

The hardware, boot screen, and original Chinese documentation may use the name OJBadge. OrbitBadge is the English product name used in this manual.

OrbitBadge is a compact programmable electronic badge built around the ESP32-S3. It combines a 1.28-inch 240 × 240 round color touchscreen, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE, microphone, audio codec, amplifier, speaker, rechargeable battery, battery fuel gauge, USB Type-C, and two side controls in a 45.8 × 45.8 × 12.3 mm enclosure.

It is designed for animated badges, round dashboards, clocks, audio visualizers, Wi-Fi projects, education, workshops, and interactive demonstrations. AilyBlockly provides block-based and AI-assisted programming workflows.

Quick start

  1. Install AilyBlockly.
  2. Connect OrbitBadge to your computer with the supplied USB Type-C data cable.
  3. Select the OrbitBadge/OJBadge target and the correct serial port in AilyBlockly.
  4. Open or build a project using the available TFT_eSPI, LVGL, CST816 touch, ES8311 audio, BQ27220 battery, and ESP32 Wi-Fi blocks.
  5. Compile and upload the project.
  6. After upload, run the project over USB or from the built-in battery.

Important battery information

OrbitBadge contains a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. Do not puncture, crush, short-circuit, disassemble, or expose the device to excessive heat. Use a standards-compliant USB power source and follow local lithium-battery transport and disposal rules.

Original resources

License status

The original product materials describe the hardware as open source and provide a schematic. This repository does not yet include a separate software, documentation, or hardware license. Add the appropriate license before reusing or redistributing the design files.
