Emufii 1.12.10 - beta

Choose a tag to compare

@jojodogm-ctrl jojodogm-ctrl released this 09 Sep 23:01

🕹️ PS2

  • PS2 sessions should work now. The emulator is configured per game before it starts, instead of reusing whatever was set last time.
  • A launch that cannot be configured says what is missing, rather than booting on the previous session's room code and role.

📚 Compatibility

  • The compatibility list now covers PSP, DS and 3DS: 801 games listed, up from 122.

🖼️ Artwork

  • Artwork can be read from an ES-DE folder, so a library already sorted for ES-DE shows its covers without any extra setup.

🗂️ Library

  • Large libraries stop losing titles on the way to the grid.
  • The grid stops drawing sixteen columns where six fit, so tiles keep a readable size.

Emufii 1.12.9 - Hotfix

@jojodogm-ctrl jojodogm-ctrl released this 02 Sep 22:13

🔊 Sound

  • Hotfix: the interface sounds followed the ringer volume rather than the games'. Turning the console up did nothing to them, because they were riding a different channel. They follow the volume rocker now, and can finally be heard.
  • The hover stays below the press, as before: it fires on every tile you cross.

🎯 Cursor

  • Hotfix: the ring around an open session was clipped square on all four sides. It goes round the card properly now.
  • The gradient turns at an even step. It used to advance one position, then two, and that stutter read as a cursor that was not quite smooth.

🖥️ Screens

  • On a single screen, the pad keys are shown at the foot of the main screen, as they already were on the rear panel.
  • A friend arriving now sits between the two shelves instead of barring the whole screen, and stays quiet when the rear panel already carries the note.

🌍 Language

  • The app opens in English on a phone set to neither French nor English, where it used to show French, onboarding included.

@jojodogm-ctrl jojodogm-ctrl released this 31 Aug 19:46

🎨 Interface

  • The whole interface has been redrawn: new theme, new colours, new logo.
  • A cursor you drive with the pad everywhere in the app, with sounds on hover and on confirm.
  • First launch is rebuilt from scratch: nickname, games folder, console picking, artwork, emulators, notifications. Every step is explained, and only the pages that concern you show up.

📚 Library

  • Three views to pick from: grid, carousel or list. The list tells two dumps of the same game apart.
  • Three sort orders: A to Z, recently added, or by console.
  • Filter as you type, across every console at once.
  • A second ROM folder can be added.
  • A compatibility badge on every game: compatible, partly compatible, not compatible, or not tested yet.

🕹️ Games and artwork

  • Titles show in the app's language, with an English fallback, on every console.
  • Games misnamed by GameTDB find their entry again, the genre is translated, and encrypted dumps finally get a real name.
  • Artwork is loaded ahead of time, from Cocoon or SteamGridDB.
  • Switch games no longer need prod.keys to be recognised: the title id is enough.
  • Azahar is recognised even under its old lime3ds identifier.

📱 Second screen

  • Launch steps are driven with the pad from the front screen.
  • Back no longer closes the bottom screen.

🔗 Sessions

  • The session code now has its own keyboard.
  • The preparing screen warns you when it drags on and lets you give up.
  • A lamp shows the server's state live.

🖥️ Server

  • Emufii is moving to a new machine, at an address of its own. This update is the one that takes you there: install it, or you stay on the old server.
  • The number of games that can run at the same time goes from 50 to 200.

Emufii 1.12.7 - beta

Choose a tag to compare

@jojodogm-ctrl jojodogm-ctrl released this 31 Aug 19:45

🖥️ Emufii now works with a dual screen !

  • Not fully integrated yet, but usable right now: turn it on in the app's general settings. The bottom screen shows the session code while you play, the console and the game sheet while you browse your library, and your friends list. It is touch enabled: during a session, both steps can be pressed straight on it.
  • Nothing changes if you only have one screen.

⚙️ Settings have been reorganised

  • A menu, then pages: profile, library, consoles, emulators, appearance, general, about. Everything you have to set up before playing (PPSSPP, the PS2 network profile, automatic filling) finally gets its own page, with a count of what is done and what is left.

🔍 Search in your library

  • Look a game up by name, with a keyboard built for the pad instead of Android's. Searching open sessions gets it too.

✨ Improvements and fixes

  • PS2: ARMSX2 launches straight into the game, without going through its settings. The disc identity is read again when needed, so no more rescanning your library after an update.

  • PSP: a session is refused until the setup is done, same as the PS2, rather than letting you find out inside the game.
    Library: the console is recognised from the folder holding the game, then from the extension, then from the contents. A PS1 disc is no longer taken for a PS2 one, and PSP folders are recognised.

  • Friends: you see who is online and what they are playing, with a notification when a friend comes online or starts a game.
    Every game has its own sheet: artwork, region, genre, and its compatibility verdict.

Emufii 1.12.6 - beta

Choose a tag to compare

@jojodogm-ctrl jojodogm-ctrl released this 31 Aug 19:45

New

  • Automatic PPSSPP network setup. Pick the memory stick folder once, and Emufii writes the per-game settings PPSSPP itself loads as the game boots. No more address to type by hand before a private session
  • Works with stock PPSSPP from the store, no fork and no broad storage permission: Android only grants Emufii that one folder

Improvements and fixes

  • After a private game, PPSSPP goes back to public play on its own: the four network values Emufii borrowed are put back exactly as they were, and everything else you changed meanwhile stays
  • Manual setup remains available when the memory stick lives in internal storage, where Android closes the automatic path

Emufii 1.12.5 - hotfix

Choose a tag to compare

@jojodogm-ctrl jojodogm-ctrl released this 31 Aug 19:45

New

  • ARMSX2 folder memory cards are supported: Emufii prepares a card carrying the network profile and copies your saves onto it, so everything lives on the card the console actually mounts
  • Your original folder is only ever read, never moved, emptied or rewritten

Improvements and fixes

  • The session window for a PS2 game opens with no pause
  • Emufii now tells you when an emulator's automation never started, instead of staying silent
  • The PS2 setup no longer mistakes a card it prepared itself for your own card

Emufii 1.12.4 - beta

@jojodogm-ctrl jojodogm-ctrl released this 31 Aug 19:45

Fixed

  • PS2 games are playable again after a session. Emufii kept the card's checksum and called your setup lost the moment it changed, but a memory card changes every time a game saves to it. It now checks that the network profile is still on the card and still names your console, and lets your saves live their own life

New

  • If you use Cocoon, Emufii takes the artwork you already have there, including the covers you re-cropped yourself. No key, no download, no guessing from a filename: your games keep the face you gave them. Point Emufii at the Cocoon folder once, in Game icons
  • Three more accent colours: yellow, red and white

Improvements

  • Settings are rebuilt where they were worst, inside an open section. Each one is now a note, its actions, and its state: one filled button for the thing that does the work, ghosts for the errands, and a recess carrying a bead, one sentence, and the facts in aligned columns instead of prose full of middle dots
  • The PS2 section drops the accent once the profile is installed, rather than repeating what it can do
  • Accent swatches take the same four columns as the theme thumbnails above them

Emufii 1.12.3 - beta

Choose a tag to compare

@jojodogm-ctrl jojodogm-ctrl released this 31 Aug 19:45

New

  • The PS2 memory card sets itself up. Emufii reads ARMSX2's own folder, recognises your BIOS, clones your active card with your saves intact, writes the network profile into it and assigns it to Slot 1
  • Your original card is never modified. It is copied aside into its own folder first, and the new card is only published once it has been read back and its checksum verified, so a failure halfway leaves nothing behind
  • The PS2 setup walkthrough is rebuilt, in English and French, and now says exactly what is missing when the BIOS, the card or a permission is not where it should be
  • A read-only inspector for PS2 memory cards ships in tools/, for anyone who wants to check what was written

Improvements and fixes

  • Folder memory cards and ambiguous BIOS dumps are refused with a clear message rather than guessed at
  • A card that changes while Emufii is reading it aborts the preparation instead of publishing a torn save
  • The ready state is revoked on its own if the card, its checksum, its slot or the console id stop matching
  • Fixed two if/else blocks that made Android Lint fail the build

The PS2 work in this release comes from @sofianeelhor, in the project's first pull request. Thank you.

Emufii 1.12.2 - beta

Choose a tag to compare

@jojodogm-ctrl jojodogm-ctrl released this 31 Aug 19:45

New

  • A new look throughout: moulded plastic on an engraved tray, one cyan cursor, drawn icons in place of typed characters, and Rounded M+ as the app's typeface
  • Compatibility beads on your games: a mark on the tile says whether a game is verified, runs with caveats, does not work, or has simply never been tried, and the launch card spells it out in words before you open a session
  • A verdict is given once and reaches every player, whatever region their copy comes from. PS2 discs are identified by the serial in SYSTEM.CNF, the one the rest of the PS2 world uses
  • Themes are picked from a panel that shows them instead of naming them, and the accent colour is now yours to choose
  • Emufii's app source is published on GitHub, under the AGPL-3.0. The session broker and the relay stay closed, so what is public is the client, not the network behind it

Improvements and fixes

  • The cursor moves as one piece and stays centred in long lists, instead of trailing its halo behind it
  • A card opened with a finger still answers the controller, and the list behind it no longer steals the directions
  • List rows are opaque plates now, so the cursor's halo no longer bleeds through the row above
  • Joining a PS2 session asks for the network profile too, exactly like creating one
  • The session screen makes the important note a recess, and leaving it an object you can aim at

Emufii 1.12.1 - beta

Choose a tag to compare

@jojodogm-ctrl jojodogm-ctrl released this 31 Aug 19:44

New

  • PS2 multiplayer is confirmed on two devices: Midnight Club 3 and TimeSplitters 2 both played over the relay. A PS2 LAN game needs a network configuration on its memory card first, and Settings now hands you that card and walks you through it, step by step
  • Console folders show their own icon, in the light or dark version depending on your theme
  • Remove a game from the menu from its own tile, and bring them all back from Settings. Nothing is deleted: the file and its saves stay where they are

Improvements and fixes

  • On a controller, holding A opens a tile's menu, with the same press animation as a finger
  • On the join screen, the keyboard key now closes the keyboard instead of doing nothing. Joining stays on the Join button
  • A console's name no longer overflows its folder tile
