Downloads
- macOS: use
ClipTo-v2.4.0-macos-universal.dmg(macOS 11+, Apple Silicon and Intel). Drag ClipTo.app into Applications and open it. The app and disk image are Developer ID signed, Apple-notarized and stapled. If you previously usedct install, runct uninstallfirst to stop its login agent. Otherwise quit the older daemon from its menu. Grant ClipTo Accessibility permission for automatic paste. - macOS CLI: signed/notarized
ct-v2.4.0-macos-arm64.tar.gzandct-v2.4.0-macos-x86_64.tar.gz. Gatekeeper needs internet access for the first launch of standalone CLI binaries. - Windows:
ct-v2.4.0-windows-x86_64.zip. Quit the old tray daemon before upgrading from 2.3.x. The Windows executable is not Authenticode-signed. - Linux CLI remains available. SHA256SUMS covers all download assets.
Behavior change
plain, md and html now remove other clipboard formats by default. Rich editors such as Word, Outlook and Slack can no longer choose the original HTML/RTF instead of the requested text. Use -k / --keep-formats on the CLI to retain the previous behavior. The chooser always writes only the selected target.
Fixes
- Windows writes HTML, Unicode text and the private Markdown source together without clearing earlier formats.
- Windows restores the destination window before pasting, waits for modifier release, and cancels automatic pasting when focus cannot be restored.
- Windows startup is single-instance; uninstall gracefully stops only the resident daemon, including renamed executables.
- Text only preserves current visible text instead of restoring private Markdown.
- HTML conversion preserves CSS emphasis, simple emphasis class rules, Office list paragraphs and explicit line breaks.
- The macOS preview and selected conversion use the same clipboard snapshot and force setting.
- macOS menu badges are guarded on versions before macOS 14.
- RTF-only requests remove HTML even when rich content is already present.
Validation
Automated conversion and CLI regressions, a private native macOS pasteboard test, native Windows clipboard tests on an isolated runner, and Windows single-instance/shutdown tests. The signed Mac app and both CLI architectures were smoke-tested locally. Fixtures for Office HTML are synthetic; end-to-end behavior in your installed Outlook, Slack and Word versions still needs user testing.
