AerioTV for Android v0.5.8
Live TV
- Switch Stream keeps a single connection, so switching a channel's stream no longer drops the channel or reverts to the previous stream.
- The app now follows your own Dispatcharr account's permissions instead of assuming an admin account. DVR, Movies and TV Shows appear when your account has access, and recording works for any account allowed to manage the DVR.
- When a stream is refused because your account or the provider is out of connections, the player says so and offers Retry instead of failing quietly.
- A channel that keeps ending now waits longer between attempts instead of fighting other devices for the slot.
- A slow channel gets more time to start before another stream is tried, and the app learns how long each channel usually takes.
- A stream that ends cleanly no longer leaves a connection open on the server.
Player
- Player Info Card: choose what appears on the info card in the player, from the channel logo and name to the program name, time, subtitle and description. Settings > App Behaviors.
- The info card now shows the program subtitle and description.
- Playback recovers from a video decoder failure by rebuilding the player, which fixes frozen video with continuing audio on some devices.
Guide
- Program art keeps its own shape, so landscape stays landscape and posters stay posters, and it scales with the app-wide Text Size setting.
- Fixed focus getting stuck at the clock or in the top menu, and focus now returns to the guide if it is lost.
- Channel List Options apply immediately instead of after leaving and returning to Live TV.
Settings
- The reveal button now works with a remote, and every password and API key field has one.
- Fixed the Display Scale labels running vertically on phones.
Playlists
- Changing a playlist's credentials now signs in as that account, and a playlist signed in as the wrong account repairs itself.
AerioTV for Android v0.5.7
What's New
- Text Size: make text larger or smaller across the whole app, from 85% to 150% in 5% steps (Settings > Appearance).
- Subtext Size: adjust just the secondary text, like descriptions and details, from 85% to 150%, without changing titles.
- Text Contrast: turn up contrast from 0 to 100% to make dimmed and theme-colored text easier to read.
- Bigger channel logos: channel logos in the guide and channel list grow to use the space when channel numbers or names are hidden.
AerioTV for Android v0.5.6
What's New
- Guide banner art: Square and wide program art fills the full banner slot again. Only portrait posters use the narrow poster slot.
AerioTV for Android v0.5.5
What's New in 0.5.5
- Mini player on phones: Swipe down from the top of the live player to shrink it into a floating in-app mini player. Movies, episodes, recordings and catch-up minimize to it too, and picking a channel tunes it right in the mini.
- Skip Intervals: Choose how far skip back and skip forward jump for live, DVR and on demand.
- Smarter Reconnecting: Reconnecting shows only when playback actually stalls, appears quickly when the server stops a stream, and backs off while a channel is stopping. Changing channels or swapping a multiview tile now closes the old connection.
- Default Group and Recently Watched: Pick the group Live TV opens on in App Behaviors. Recently Watched lists your last 25 channels; turn it on in Manage Groups. The selected group is remembered per playlist.
- Hide movies and series: Long-press any title to hide it. Hidden titles live in the Filter dialog and sync with your watchlist.
- Video Scale in the player: Fit, Fill and Stretch replace Aspect Ratio, with pinch to scale on phones and tablets.
- More audio formats decoded: More audio formats now decode in the app when the device cannot.
- TV guide sidebar and remote keys: A Sidebar layout setting (Overlay or Shift guide) in Manage Groups, group previews on focus with Back restoring your group, and six remappable guide keys.
- Android TV polish: A second Back closes playback, long Left/Right scrubs on demand with controls hidden, Up from the first row reaches the tabs, the mini player steps aside on Settings, and exiting catch-up returns to the guide. The on demand hero now shows only for Continue Watching.
AerioTV for Android v0.5.4
AerioTV 0.5.4
A small fix release for artwork, Android TV dialogs.
Fixed
- Program Info now shows the program's own image when no other art is found. Images that come from the guide source appear after the next guide refresh.
- Android TV: the close-app confirmation shows one Cancel row instead of two.
Installing
- GitHub build: the app updates itself. Open Settings and check for updates, or wait for the prompt on the next launch.
- Play Store build: it arrives through the Play Store as a normal update. The Play build has no in-app updater.
- Switching between the two builds means uninstalling the other one first, because they are signed differently.
AerioTV for Android v0.5.3
AerioTV 0.5.3
A small Live TV navigation follow-up to 0.5.2 for Android TV.
Changed
- Live TV on Android TV: moving through the group sidebar shows each group's channels as you go, no Select needed. This covers both the guide drawer and the in-player channel picker.
AerioTV for Android v0.5.2
AerioTV 0.5.2
A small Live TV layout follow-up to 0.5.1 for Android TV.
Fixed
- Live TV: with the hero banner off, the mini player now sits above the guide timeline instead of over the channel rows.
- Live TV: the group sidebar widens to fit your longest group name.
- The in-player group picker on Android TV keeps its own width, so the focus highlight no longer spans the screen.
AerioTV for Android v0.5.1
AerioTV 0.5.1
A small follow-up to 0.5.0 for live channels that deliver in bursts.
Fixed
- Live playback on feeds that deliver in bursts: after a stall the player rebuilds a buffer sized to the measured gap, instead of resuming on a thin buffer and stalling again.
- If the same feed stalls again within a minute, AerioTV rejoins from the local buffer with the hold-back it has learned for that channel, instead of stalling repeatedly.
- The What's New sheet no longer bounces when scrolled to the end.
AerioTV for Android v0.5.0
AerioTV 0.5.0
A big release: a new media center on both the phone and the TV, Google Cast, and a much faster launch.
Media center
- Movies and TV Shows replace On Demand on phone and tablet, and the DVR tab becomes a media center of its own.
- Every media tab shares one layout: hero art at the top, a Continue Watching deck, shelves of your library, and a poster grid with an alphabet rail down the edge.
- Search opens in place and matches titles and cast, with provider pills and ratings in the results.
- Detail pages for movies and series match the Apple TV and iPhone layouts, with a Related strip, cast and crew, and a Play button that resumes the right episode.
- Watchlist decks, sort and filter, and a native Filter page on the TV.
- Pull to refresh on the Movies and Series grids.
- Favorites is now a pinned group at the front of Live TV instead of a separate tab.
- Artwork comes from TMDB when you add a key, and is cached so it loads instantly next time.
Google Cast
- Cast live TV to a Chromecast, or hand off to an Android TV running AerioTV so the TV plays the stream itself.
- Surround sound is passed straight through to receivers that can decode it, and stereo is used where it cannot.
- Casting and the AerioTV Remote share one card above the tab bar. Tap it for the full controls, including 30 second skips.
- The cast picker lists AerioTV on TV devices in their own section.
- Changing channels while casting loads the new channel cleanly instead of mixing it with the old one.
- On the remote card, X stops the TV and closes it, while Disconnect leaves the TV playing.
Speed
- Launch paints the guide first and restores your library in the background, so the app is usable sooner after a cold start.
- The guide, on demand library and DVR all read from cache first and refresh quietly behind you.
- The guide keeps a rolling cache sized to your playlist's Guide Days setting.
- Old catch-up and guide data beyond reach is pruned instead of piling up.
- Library lists are built off the main thread, and release builds are smaller and optimized.
Live TV and playback
- AerioTV learns how much buffer a bursty channel needs and applies it the next time you tune in.
- Live channels that arrive in bursts now rebuild a bigger buffer after a stall instead of stalling again.
- When a stream goes silent on tune in, the app moves to another stream instead of waiting.
- A busy server's own reason is shown, and the app waits exactly as long as the server asks before retrying.
- A loading detail line under the spinner tells you what the app is waiting on.
- Recovery from a decoder failure no longer needs a restart.
- What's New sheet no longer bounces when scrolled to the end.
- Audio fixes for streams that report their channel layout incorrectly.
Guide
- Tap the clock to snap back to now, or hold it to jump to another day and time, up to two weeks ahead on a current server.
- Catch-up badges on individual programs, and a favorite star on the channel rail.
- A group drawer that opens on the group you are in, dims the screen behind it, and keeps focus inside.
- Cleaner cell dividers, smoother timeline panning, and a long press on a program or channel opens a bottom sheet of actions.
Phone and tablet
- The tab bar collapses into a small pill in the bottom corner as you scroll, instead of disappearing.
- The Control a TV button sits beside it in the same shape.
- Card decks follow your finger and spring back, and a swiped card travels to the back of the stack.
- The tab bar centers itself on wide windows, and the navigation bar stays put on foldables.
- Live TV rows, headers and group drawer match the iPhone layout.
Android TV
- Player controls are icon circles with the caption under the focused one, a resolution and frame rate badge, and chrome that hides three seconds after your last action.
- Media pages scroll and return focus the way the Apple TV does.
- Record from Now, Record Program and Program Info sheets rebuilt, including series recording rules.
- A mini player that sits clear of the tab bar, and remote hint strips that follow your remote map.
Other
- Granular account permissions and the multi-day guide window from Dispatcharr 0.30.
- Watchlist syncs across your devices and is scoped to the server it came from.
- A What's New sheet on the first launch after an update. You can reopen it any time by tapping the App Version row in Settings.
- TMDB attribution and logo across Settings, Licenses and detail pages, with a note that no TMDB data flows until you add your own key.
AerioTV for Android v0.4.27
NVIDIA Shield follow-up to 0.4.26. Nothing changes on other devices.
Testing a Fix for Nvidia Shield
- NVIDIA Shield: frozen picture after a resolution or refresh-rate change with Match Content Resolution on. On the Shield the recreated video surface alone was not enough; the decoder kept reporting frames while the panel showed the last one. After the display settles, the stream is now re-primed in place so the decoder is rebuilt against the new surface. Expect a brief black frame right after each mode switch. This path only runs on NVIDIA devices.
Install
Sideload AerioTV-0.4.27.apk; it carries the in-app updater and earlier sideloaded builds will offer this update. The Play build is updater-free; if you switch from a sideloaded build to Play, uninstall first.
