Wren Companion 0.1.3

This update makes site connection retries more reliable.

  • Connection checks stop after three seconds so a new attempt can proceed.
  • Late replies cannot cancel a retry or change its network.
  • The active network updates after the connection checks succeed.
  • Sites can request a network change when their assigned network is disabled.

Transaction and approval requests keep their existing wait behavior.
Pairing protocol 3, permissions, and data types are unchanged.
Use Wren 0.1.11 or a later compatible desktop build.

Wren Companion 0.1.2

This update improves connection reliability on Etherscan, BaseScan, and other
Ethereum apps.

  • Wren now connects correctly on apps that also check for MetaMask
compatibility. Wren still identifies itself as Wren.
  • The popup more reliably shows the active network and the site's Wren/MetaMask
setting, including pages that use embedded frames.
  • Connections now work when a site asks to switch networks before it asks for
account access, including BaseScan's Base network flow.
  • Site setting changes stay tied to the exact page that requested them in
    Chrome and Firefox.
  • The last known network list stays visible during brief local disconnects or
browser background restarts. Accounts, requests, transactions, and page
content are not stored in this list.

Pairing, page isolation, and the data sent to Wren are unchanged from 0.1.1.
The extension continues to use EIP-1193, EIP-6963, and pairing protocol 3.

Wren Companion 0.1.1 — Privacy remediation and Wren 0.1.2 support

@github-actions github-actions released this 19 Aug 14:14

Wren Companion 0.1.1

Wren Companion 0.1.1 updates the local authentication handshake for Mozilla
privacy requirements.

  • The handshake no longer sends the browser name or runtime extension UUID.
  • It keeps the signed installation identity and separate non-extractable P-256
    authentication keys.
  • It uses protocol 3 and requires Wren 0.1.2 or later.
  • It has no telemetry, analytics, advertising, cloud service, or remote code.

Install Wren 0.1.2 before you install or update Companion 0.1.1.

0.1.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Aug 16:24

Wren Companion 0.1.0

Wren Companion connects browser-based Ethereum and EVM dapps to the Wren
desktop wallet. Wren keeps accounts, signers, approvals, and transaction review
in the desktop application; the extension provides EIP-1193 and EIP-6963 browser
discovery and routes each document's requests to Wren on the same computer.

Highlights

  • Separate Chrome and Firefox Manifest V3 packages.
  • Explicit six-digit pairing with mutually authenticated protocol-3 reconnects.
  • Tab, frame, document, and origin isolation for requests, responses, events,
    subscriptions, and pairing authority.
  • Per-site Wren/legacy-provider presentation and Wren-controlled chain switching.
  • No analytics, advertising, telemetry, remote code, cloud account, or
    developer-operated data service.

The installable packages require a compatible Wren desktop release. Browser
store review and publication are separate from this GitHub release.

Release boundary

Use disposable browser profiles and accounts for initial testing. The extension
requires HTTP and HTTPS site access so it can inject the wallet provider on dapp
pages, and it communicates wallet requests only with Wren at
ws://127.0.0.1:1248. See the privacy policy, security notes, compatibility
metadata, and reviewer build instructions in this repository.
