All of Silent's GT2 patches now ship, and the plain discs get their cheats. New on both discs: Metric Units, HUD & Mirror Toggle (L3), Replay Cameras in Race (R1) and BGM Switch (R3); on the Simulation disc also True Endurance and Fixed Event Generator. The community cheat codes never worked on the v1.1 discs this port runs — every one was re-derived for v1.1 and verified in the lab with a screenshot: track and car unlocks on the Arcade disc, and eleven money/licence/race cheats on the Simulation disc. 60 FPS was measured on a real PC and made about 30% cheaper, and it no longer forces the 325% overclock.

Install / upgrade

  1. Put your .bin disc image(s) in a folder.
  2. Download GT2Recomp-setup.zip below and drag its files into that folder.
  3. Double-click Setup GT2.cmd — 30–60 minutes per disc, then DONE.

Upgrading from 0.2.0: same steps in your existing folder — only the changed parts rebuild. Your settings, controller mapping, enabled mods and memory cards come along. Savestates made on 0.2.0 do not load on this build (memory cards and replays are fine). If the folder has grown messy, Tidy GT2 folder.cmd (installed by Setup) moves old layouts, test installs and freeze dumps into _old\ — nothing is deleted.

What's new

  • Every Silent patch, run verbatim from DuckStation's patch database through a small GameShark interpreter: Metric Units, HUD & Mirror Toggle (tap L3 to cycle the mirror, hold to hide the HUD), Replay Cameras in Race (hold R1), BGM Switch (tap R3 for the next track, hold to mute), and on the Simulation disc True Endurance (Rome 2 Hours lasts two real hours) and Fixed Event Generator. The five already shipped are unchanged and byte-identical to the database.
  • Cheats for the plain discs, verified on v1.1. Why the published codes failed: the whole save structure sits 0x370 bytes higher on v1.1 than on v1.0, so every data code landed short. Arcade disc: Unlock All Tracks, Unlock All Cars. Simulation disc: A Ton Of Cash, Money Never Decreases, Any Car Can Enter Any Race, All Gold Licences plus one per licence class, All Races Completed. Each is guarded so nothing is written mid-race. The ones not offered, and why, are in docs/CHEAT_VERIFICATION.md.
  • 60 FPS, measured and improved. On a real PC a 60 FPS race is CPU-bound in the emulation itself — the GPU costs nothing even at 16× supersampling. Three fixed costs were cut (a hole in the native-code cache on the game's biggest overlay, dev instrumentation left on at play time, an SPU query that snapshotted everything to read one bit): +30% on the lab's 60 FPS race. Details and how to measure your own PC (Benchmark GT2.cmd) in docs/PERFORMANCE.md.
  • 60 FPS and the overclock are decoupled. Choosing 60 FPS still switches the CPU overclock on, but the percent is yours — lowering it no longer switches 60 FPS off. If 60 stutters, try 200–250 before giving up on it.
  • F1 → Change disc… refuses the wrong image (an image whose serial is not this build's) instead of loading it.
  • F1 → Advanced: PGXP tuning with the GT2 defaults stated and a reset row.
  • Tidy GT2 folder.cmd — one exe to start; everything from older layouts goes to _old\.

Known issues

  • 60 FPS is CPU-heavy. At 60 the emulated PlayStation does a frame's work every VBlank at up to 3.25× its clock; on many PCs that sags in races while menus stay at 60. It is the CPU, not the GPU. What helps: a lower CPU overclock % on the Mods page (200–250), a few sessions for the native-code cache to warm up (let Play GT2.cmd finish its compile step), PGXP off if you must. Original (30 fps) with the Enhanced preset is a solid 30 on everything.
  • Cheats are per disc and change the save the game is holding — save your garage first if you care about it.
  • Savestates from 0.2.0 do not load on 0.3.0 (the native-code cache format changed; states carry its tag).
  • The first sessions after this update run slower while the native-code cache is rebuilt; the boot "Loading Save Data" screen takes a while.
  • 30 fps replays and Rally ghosts don't play back correctly at 60 FPS.
