KisakCOD VR v0.10.0-beta.2 — Smoother Frames, Stable Horizon and Audio Fix
KisakCOD VR v0.10.0-beta.2 is a frame-pacing, comfort, audio, and controls update over v0.10.0-beta.1.
Highlights
- Substantially smoother fresh-frame delivery with much less head-turn jitter.
- Fixed scratchy, metallic, or corrupted looping audio, including the Airlift helicopter sequence.
- Stabilized the horizon during sprinting, rappelling, and scripted camera movement.
- Added right-stick up for jump/stand and right-stick down for crouch.
- Preserved horizontal 45-degree snap turning and right-stick-click melee.
- Added a supported lower-performance render preset.
- Retains beta.1's tracked left hand and physical magazine reloading.
Frame pacing and VR rendering
The capture bridge now associates each stereo image with the exact OpenXR pose used to render it. Completed captures are consumed in order through a four-slot queue rather than alternating between reused frames and discarded fresh frames.
This substantially reduces consumer skips, reused-frame streaks, pose mismatch, and the visible jitter caused by the old producer/consumer phase race. Occasional hardware- or runtime-dependent judder may still occur because this remains a beta.
The incompatible 3072x1536 packed mode is no longer recommended. Supported presets are:
6016x2688with output scale1.04768x2016with output scale0.75
Camera comfort
The game-authored VR camera base is now reduced to yaw before physical HMD motion is applied. This prevents COD4's sprint, rappel, and scripted camera pitch/roll from banking the entire world while preserving physical head pitch, yaw, roll, and translation.
Audio correction
COD4 normally performs one renderer sound update per game view. The VR renderer creates left-eye, right-eye, and sometimes scope views, which caused the full update to run two or three times in one game frame.
It now runs only for the first VR view. Additional eye and scope views skip the duplicate update, preventing long looping sounds from being repeatedly disturbed or audibly corrupted.
Updated controls
- Move: left thumbstick
- Snap turn: right thumbstick left/right
- Jump or stand: right thumbstick up; left index trigger also remains available
- Crouch: right thumbstick down; right B tap also remains available
- Prone: hold right B
- Melee: click right thumbstick
- Fire: right index trigger
- Use: left X
- Sprint: click left thumbstick
- Magazine eject or native reload: right A
- Rifle grenade and night vision: right-thumbrest plus left-stick directional modifier
Vertical stick gestures trigger once and must return near neutral before they can trigger again. Vertically dominant input is required, so they do not interfere with horizontal snap turning.
Existing tracked-hand and reloading features
The tracked left hand and physical manual magazine reload introduced in beta.1 remain included. For supported detachable-magazine rifles, SMGs, and pistols:
- Press right A to eject the current magazine.
- Move the left controller to the left hip and hold the left grip.
- Move the magazine to the weapon.
- Release the grip inside the magazine well.
Unsupported weapon types retain COD4's native right-A reload behavior.
Installation
- Install and launch the original 2007 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare once.
- Open the folder containing
iw3sp.exe. - Extract
KisakCOD-VR-v0.10.0-beta.2.zipdirectly into that folder and allow it to replace the previous mod files. - Start the desired OpenXR runtime.
- Run
Launch-KisakCOD-VR.bat.
The package contains no COD4 maps, fastfiles, saves, original executables, or other game data. A legitimate copy of the original game is required.
Tested configuration
- Meta Quest 3
- Virtual Desktop OpenXR runtime
- NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti
Other headsets, controller profiles, GPUs, and OpenXR runtimes remain experimental.
Known limitations
- Death From Above is not supported. Open the console and enter
/spmap bog_bto continue with War Pig. - Physical scope placement may need headset-specific calibration in
VR-Settings.bat. - Some runtime- or performance-dependent judder may remain.
- Mission-specific weapon, scripting, save, or checkpoint problems should be reported with the mission, checkpoint, headset/runtime, and relevant
main/console.loglines.

KisakCOD VR v0.10.0-beta.1 - Tracked Hands and Manual Reloading
Matching-runtime clean-install fix
The Windows ZIP now includes the exact 32-bit Steamworks, Bink, and Miles runtime files used by KisakCOD. This fixes clean-install steam_api.dll failures and the _AIL_sample_stage_property@28 entry-point error caused by an incompatible retail mss32.dll.
Clean-install packaging fix
The Windows ZIP now includes the required steam_api.dll. A clean extraction into an original COD4 installation no longer requires files from an older KisakCOD VR update.
Tracked hands and physical manual reloading
This beta adds a palm-aligned tracked left hand and physical detachable-magazine reloading for supported rifles, SMGs, and pistols.
Added
- Palm-aligned controller-tracked left hand
- Free-hand, rifle-support, and magazine-grip poses
- Physical magazine ejection, left-hip draw, insertion, rotation, and dropping
- Two-bone shoulder and elbow placement
- OpenXR palm-pose support with grip-pose fallback
- Settings for disabling tracked hands or physical reloading
- Removed the colored controller-axis diagnostic overlay
Complete Meta Quest Touch controls
This is the primary tested control map. Other OpenXR controller profiles remain experimental.
| Action | Control |
|---|---|
| Look and physically turn | Move the headset or turn your body |
| Move | Left thumbstick; movement follows HMD direction |
| Snap turn | Right thumbstick left/right; 45-degree turns |
| Aim weapon | Point the right controller |
| Fire | Right index trigger |
| Two-hand rifle support | Hold the left grip near the weapon’s fore-end |
| Aim down sights / use scope | Hold the left grip and physically shoulder the weapon near the headset sight line |
| Jump | Left index trigger |
| Use / interact / pick up | Left X |
| Eject magazine or reload | Right A |
| Sprint | Click and hold the left thumbstick while moving |
| Crouch | Tap right B |
| Prone | Hold right B |

Physical magazine reloading
For supported detachable-magazine rifles, SMGs, and pistols:
- Press right A to eject the current magazine.
- Move the left controller to your left hip.
- Squeeze and hold the left grip to draw a fresh magazine.
- Carry the magazine to the weapon while continuing to hold the grip.
- Release inside the magazine well to insert it.
- Releasing away from the magazine well drops the magazine.
Shotguns, launchers, bolt-action rifles, belt-fed weapons, and weapons without a usable detachable magazine use right A for COD4’s original reload behavior.
Physical reloading can be disabled by setting KISAK_VR_MANUAL_RELOAD=0 in VR-Settings.bat.
Mission-action shortcuts
Touch and hold the right controller’s thumbrest sensor while moving the left thumbstick. Normal movement is suspended while the modifier is active.
| Modified input | Action |
|---|---|
| Right thumbrest + left stick up | Rifle grenade launcher / weapon slot 5 |
| Right thumbrest + left stick down | Night vision |
| Right thumbrest + left stick left | Airstrike / mission action slot 6 |
| Right thumbrest + left stick right | C4 / mission action slot 7 |
Menus
| Action | Control |
|---|---|
| Move virtual cursor | Left thumbstick |
| Confirm / select | Right A |
| Back | Right B |
