v1.0.51 — Bluetooth LE peers (Columba, Prns), V4 R8 build (experimental), LoRa and firewall forwarding fixes
LatestChanges
- Bluetooth LE peers (V4): phones running Columba and Prns nodes join the local network over Bluetooth, up to four at a time, trusted like LoRa. On by default, with an Enabled/Disabled switch in the portal next to the other interfaces, and a
BLEstatus bubble besideLORAon the display. Uses about 70 KB of memory; Bluetooth starts only where the board's PSRAM is running. - Heltec V4 R8 (8 MB octal PSRAM) — experimental build (#44):
rtnode_heltec_v4_r8uses the R8's octal PSRAM and its pins (Vext GPIO40, LED GPIO46, no battery divider control), from Heltec's R8 pin changes. Not yet run on an R8. The standard V4 build still runs on an R8, without its PSRAM; the R8 build on a 2 MB V4 boots without PSRAM and keeps the V4 pins. Neither flasher picks it automatically. - LoRa and firewall forwarding fixes, found by new end-to-end contract tests across TCP, Bluetooth, LoRa and a private backbone:
- link proofs are no longer sent back the way they came, and each link request is forwarded once — the duplicates collided on LoRa and lost echoes and link proofs;
- traffic between two LoRa devices in range of each other is no longer repeated by the node;
- split LoRa packets (over 254 bytes) are no longer glued to bytes from other packets;
- addresses in use stay whitelisted, so links across the boundary survive a busy LAN; WAN proofs pass only when they answer this node's own traffic.
- Path table: evicts the least recently used destination (it used to evict LoRa destinations first), and holds 256 on the V4 (24 before).
- Ingress control at Reticulum 1.5.2 parity: announce bursts from a LAN client are held and released gradually instead of flooding the node and LoRa.
- Performance (#43): Reticulum's heap in PSRAM on the V4; LoRa transmits without blocking the main loop; announces cached in RAM rather than flash; paths saved an hour after start and then daily (every minute before).
- Device advertisement: IFAC name and passphrase are published only with the new Publish Network Access (IFAC) option (default No); stamp value 16 (Reticulum 1.5.2), worked without stalling the node.
- Portal: negative GPS coordinates can be typed on iOS, and comma decimals are read correctly (#38).
- Display: the version page shows 1.51 (it was stuck at 1.48).
