What are Shift Patterns?

There are two methods of providing a schedule for a person. One is to specify the individual dates and times of when that person has availability.

The other method is to provide a pattern that represents a repetitive schedule. For example, say you want to say a Person works every weekday 9am to 5pm. That pattern would be represented like this:
