Release list
v0.1.0-hotfix
Added statically-linked libraries so it should work if you don't have MinGW installed now
v0.1.0-alpha
ALPHA RELEASE!!!
This release is linked to devlog 12.
Closes Issues
#19 (Copy paste lights and models)
#7 (Create ASCII export)
#24 (Fan Triangulation)
Author's notes
You can basically do the fundamental processes you would want from a program that renders ASCII art from 3D models - import safety (unless you have concave faces), move models around within the scene, add multiple of the same object (import from assets or copy-paste), cool lighting, view the render in ASCII form, and export it in a way that is compatible with modern command prompts.
Future release would work on speed (cause ts hella slow) and adding QoL updates like gizmos for viewing lights and moving using viewport, animation, etc. Do add more ideas in the issues!
To run:
- Extract file
- Navigate to bin directory
- Run 3DASCII.exe
To clear data, models, lights, etc that are saved, just delete (or mOdIfY) the saveData.json file in the same directory, it'll regenerate!
The export data will be in an export.txt file in the same directory as 3DASCII (aka the bin directory)

v0.0.7-prerelease
This release is linked to devlog 9.
Closes Issues
#10 (ASCII Display)
#6 (Conversion between ASCII and Regular display)
Author's Notes
Finally did some work on the ASCII part of 3DASCII! It looks sick so far, and the fact that the ascii rendering is white tells me there is something wrong with the regular render code that I'll have to fix later on down the line.
To Run
- Extract file
- Navigate to bin directory
- Run 3DASCII.exe
To clear data, models, lights, etc that are saved, just delete (or mOdIfY) the saveData.json file in the same directory, it'll regenerate!

Author's notes
LIGHTING!!! No more psychedelic donuts, just red-colored ones for some reason... I need to check SDL's rendering code, gamma correction or something maybe?
To Run
- Extract file
- Navigate to bin directory
- Run 3DASCII.exe
- To clear data, models, lights, etc that are saved, just delete (or mOdIfY) the saveData.json file in the same directory, it'll regenerate!
