Formatting messages and components

justEli edited this page May 9, 2026 · 1 revision

Coins supports coloring and formatting of components using the minimessage format. This means that all color codes go in diamond brackets. Anything you see in diamond brackets is a defined color. So-called 'legacy' color codes (&-codes) are not supported.

Minimessage allows for much customization, like shadow color, translatables, rainbow, gradients, fonts, or even sprites and heads to be included in the components. Some of these features do not work on Spigot. Paper has support for every feature.

Colors

It is important to understand that any color is supported! You can use a hex code in diamond brackets, like <#FF00000> to use this color. But next to that, the following named colors can also be used:

As the minimessage documentation also states, you can color components and items with shadow, rainbow, gradient, transition, and more!
