Sign-in

  • Every ChatGPT login is the sign-in for open-source apps, chatgpt-new, because the login through the Codex CLI's client no longer works: graff login chatgpt, graff login codex, openai, gpt and oai, /login, graff logout chatgpt, and the model picker's login for a Codex model all run it. With both routes signed in, a bare model name and the startup default pick chatgpt-new. An existing Codex CLI auth.json still works on the codex route. Renewals of the new sign-in are still refused, so a sign-in lasts about an hour (#1422) (ADR 0229). (#1442)
  • Browser sign-ins wait for their own redirect. The codex login answered only the first connection to its callback port, so a connection the browser opened early and dropped ended it, and the real redirect found the port closed ("connection refused"). A tab from an earlier attempt now gets a page saying so instead of ending the sign-in, and a new sign-in takes the port from one still waiting. The ChatGPT and MCP server sign-ins share the fix. (#1442)

Sub-agents and MCP

  • One load_tool_schemas call loads natives and MCP tools together, and on the routes that announce loads a child keeps the tools its root loaded. (#1438)
  • A spawned child gets the MCP tools its root loaded, with full schemas (ADR 0227). (#1439)
  • A read-only child may call the MCP tools their server declares read-only (readOnlyHint), and inherits only those (ADR 0228). (#1440)

Codex

  • On the codex provider, the default effort is the model catalog's level, and requests carry the catalog's verbosity (ADR 0226). (#1439)

Evals

  • graff side by side with the Codex app server on the same model and account, in evals/graff-vs-codex-app-server/. The app-server driver follows the root thread and runs at the model's default effort. (#1441)
